U.S. Embassy to hold Facebook chat on scholarships

People looking to further their education and looking for the funds to do it can get assistance and advice during a Facebook chat on scholarships hosted by the United States Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.

With the deadlines for several prestigious and valuable scholarships approaching in the summer, the Embassy will hold a live chat event on the discussion board of its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/USEmbassyBarbados) between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m on Monday, May 16.

An officer of the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy office, which administers the scholarships, will participate and answer questions about available scholarships including those for mid-career professionals, educators and for local colleges to bring in U.S. scholars and experts.

Public Affairs Officer Rebecca Ross said of the initiative:
“We see this live chat event as a way to let more people know about the many scholarship opportunities which the Embassy offers and a way of directly encouraging more people to apply.”

People wishing to participate must be signed up as fans of the Embassy’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/USEmbassyBarbados). The discussion will be opened from 12:00 noon on Monday so people can post their questions in advance.

The media is welcome to cover and participate in this online event.

In the Name of Allah, The Beneficient, The Merciful.

Please allow me to inquire, isn’t America in an economic recession? How is it that she gives to others but she fails to give to some of her thousands of homeless people? Secondly, how does that benefit America by giving these scholarships, or is the embassy trying to boost its image as a result of the many visas they revoked unjustly? Lastly, though it’s the US embassy giving that scholarship however, I ask is it the surplus profits they have made from non immigrants during visa interviews will be the catalyst for funding?

I appreciate the gesture by the US embassy however I simply have some questions.

I hope my fellow commentators see my viewpoint :-D
