The police have announced the route for the street jump up which will follow National Day of Community Service activities today.The jump up hours have been set for 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm and the police have cautioned that street jump up will not be allowed outside of the stipulated times.
According to the police announcement bands must proceed along the following route:
SOUTHWARDS along Independence Street between Kennedy Avenue and King George the 5th Street.
WESTWARDS along King George VI Street between Independence Street and Hanover Street.
NORTHWARDS along Hanover Street between King George VI Street and Kennedy Avenue
EASTWARDS between Hanover Street and Independence Street
Regarding traffic within the city, motorists not forming part of organized bands are prohibited from travelling along the carnival route. Where it becomes necessary for residents and business persons who are affected to drive along carnival routes, every precaution must be taken to ensure the safety of persons who are expected to be on that said route.
Persons taking part in independence carnival are asked to allow access to all emergency and other vehicles which may of necessity, have to be driven across the carnival that route.
Motorists are instructed to adhere strictly to the Independence carnival route and are reminded that all other traffic signs within the city are to be complied with and any violation of this order will result in prosecution.
The general public is asked to cooperate fully with police on duty along the carnival route.
When is this nonsensical after clean up street jump up going to end. More litter bugs to dirty the city. We are so classless in this country.

People will say your mind is in the gutter, full of it and you are living in a gutter.
You will also say those that are named after Saints. Live and let live alone. Dominica is fine with those names.
We will ask when will you change and live in love and peace with everyone you know, family, friends and associates. This is what you should concern yourself about. This is what is necessary.

After cleaning up Roseau on day of community service, we then have a jump up to mess up the streets. Makes no sense. Haven’t we had enough fete? 4 days of CITP plus 3 nights of WCMF plus cadence Lysol show plus ………….. We are a sewo society and it shows.
is there not a city council which cleans the streets on a daily basis?it’s unfortunate that you have seen it that way,,,but it’s what it’s is let the people enjoy their lives as long they do not hurt or kill each other,this is a democracy and an independent one to
This is their compensation and enjoyment for performing community work. If it were the reverse, they would be too tired to perform it.
The City will bear the cost of cleaning up.
In any case not all people create a mess when they are enjoying themselves. They should be advised to keep it clean while doing so. It could be done especially if there are garbage containers along the way.
All these shows are money oriented and only some can afford it what about the rest of us we need free entertainment also in these hard times .

Did you not read that DNO stated comments in capitals will be prohibited? They are annoying to read. It is obvious that you did not learn typing nor were ever a secretary/stenographer, etc. This is expected with everyone purchasing computers and utilizing them. They did not as much as take a business course and are not required to even be educated or learn internet etiquette. They are good at criticisms and non-constructive ones. This will be noticed by some of those comments as yours.
for you info mr smart guy.. i am a certified admin specialist in the u.s… i have studied admin profession most of my life.. there is nothing soley wrong in expressing in caps lock… same as bold or underlining. it only emphasizes your point and brings your feelings across more boldy.. to state that you stand strongly by your views… i have no idea why dno are against capital letters… i am a new follower to dno and contributor to stories.. have i known it was prohibited i would refrain to do so.. after all its not a job letter or a news paper we are writing here.. simple comments and views….
