The Dominica Festival Committee (DFC) has received the green light from the three remaining artistes in the upcoming 14th World Creole Music Festival to broadcast their performances.
“Its all good to go,” said DFC events director Natalie Clarke-White.
Last week Clarke-White had informed that broadcast of at least three artistes could not be done unless approval was given by the performers themselves, otherwise the local broadcasters could face copyright lawsuits.
“That is the privilege of artistes. Their copyright and permissions, we have to get them, otherwise the (local TV) stations will end up having to pay some serious royalties,” Clarke-White said.
In keeping with the unanimous approval, the DFC met with broadcasters yesterday to discuss what its events director terms “proceedings and systems of coverage,” governing the broadcast agreements.
This is encouraging. Good job DFC. Please provide video streaming and we will pay for top quality. We do not want the free stuff where only ten people can get on.
