Chairman of Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) Benoit Bardouille has said in its 20 years of existence the number of patrons has increased for the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).
He was delivering remarks at a press conference on Wednesday where a WCMF partnership was signed between the DDA and Digicel was signed.
“In its 20 years of existence the World Creole Music Festival has increased its pace in continuing to attract not only locals and returning patrons but growing interest from visitors and world renowned artistes to a spectacular showcase of creole culture and music which can only be presented on the nature island of the Caribbean, Dominica,” Bardouille said.
According to him, in 2016 the WCMF attracted over 6,500 visitors to Dominica with an excess of 10,000 patrons in the festival venue each night.
“This is a testament to the festival’s brand power,” he remarked.
Bardouille said WCMF brand continues to grow in regional and international recognition and prestige with it being “touted in the international media market place, most recently by USA today as one of the Caribbean’s top music festivals.”
“So partnerships with companies such as Digicel with their own regional and international appeal are one measurable value,” he stated.
Bardouille thanked Digicel for their continued commitment to the WCMF and Dominica by extension.
He also thanked the other local and regional partners who have already cemented their commitment and support.
“Furthermore we extend the arm to welcome those partners who are still in the wings to join the WCMF family,” Bardouille noted.
Whaat, are you kidding me? Only 10000 people after 20 years and he is boasting? Do they network with or consult others experienced in the business that handle higher capacity? I’m not a big wig but I have collaborated with others put on concerts with 30000 people in attendance and they all came again. My padna who just played a likkle session Bod Lameh up South with his local panders last night consistently plays concerts in Germany, Belgium, France some with 100000+ in attendance, knows many of the producers and others with knowledge of putting on these big concerts, with tourists, locals, hotel bookings, you name it. The knowledge of these individuals can be harnessed, they can be networked if one gets off his/their high horses and research to find these people and gain leverage. But if you tell him I said that I’m quite sure his reaction will be…’boy mister doe no what he saying, he fink is Overseas dat’ lol lol. It can be done, they can be networked, if one cares to look..
Ya but mostly complimentary tickets, that’s why it will not make any profit.
That’s something from a hater. Just stay home and lament while the rest of us who want to get together have some fun
Bardouille is a fool. Even John Snow knows more than him.
Creole Festival, make no sense to me,why keep a festival and no profit is being made, wont be attending anymore,………………………………….
Simple Math >>> 10,000 people times $100 a night is $1,000,000 and you telling me there was no profit made, the lies people tell to cover up their stealing habits…
How many of these are paying attendees rather than VIP pass holders? Is that a state secret too?
and then they crying about no profits. All cat and dog getting free and complimentary VIP to keep attendance up.
Not objecting to the festival but just want to say if we were enthusiastic for all other necessary thing in life DA would be a force to be reckoned with in the region.
Just give us rum and music we good we like it so. Coruption must win and take its rightful place.
