Dominican ambassador Billy Doctrove has reminded Dominican youth to be responsible in their conduct, as ‘Mas Domnic’ 2011 takes flight.
Doctrove, who is overseas on cricket umpiring duties, on Friday issued a message telling youth that while they should enjoy the carnival festivities, they must be mindful of getting involved in actions that they might regret.
“They have their whole life in front of them and carnival is just basically a few weeks of celebration so when they go out there to enjoy themselves they must remember that they have their dignity, they have their character and they don’t want to do anything that they will regret,” he said.
The list of upcoming carnival activities include finals of the Calypso Competition, which is expected to take place tonight, street jump-up on Monday 07 March and Tuesday 08 March and Teway Vaval on Wednesday.
Doh worry with Billy nah. He just jealous because he is stuck in India and he cannot be home for carnival. So what is he trying to do? Put a wet blanket over people’s enjoyment.
I sure he praying for rain and high wind in Dominica.
What did Mr Doctrove say in his message that makes you say he is trying to put a wet blanket over peoples enjoyment? DNO comments section is useful but when they have fools like you making such dumb statements they should not be printed…all those statements do is show how shallow and idiotic some of our people can be. Nothing positive to contribute , just waiting in a corner to say something negative and degrading about people.
But what I reading there?
Someone wants them to name a street after the great Billy?! who the hell is Billy nuh?
We have had far more outstanding Dominicans whom they have yet to recognise/honor in such a manner. What about an Oliver Leblanc road? or a Frank Baron Ave? and all the other people they mentioned in that ‘100 great Dominicans’ programme which was once on DBS
Are you a politician? Does every great person in DA have to be involved in politics? How about a the good old Doctors…nurses…police officers…If people see Billy as a hero, then he is..give him a road or a lane…I want a Sukie Junction..or Sukie Lane or something like that. Is there one in DA yet?
Oh Wait… I want a Tasha P Avenue too!!!
If you hold Billy in such high esteem why is a road you want to name after him? Have you not seen the condition of the roads lately? Would you want a pot hole filled road named after you?
I think he would get a bigger bang for his buck is you changed the “julie mango” to Bill Mango.
Its good that Mr Doctrove could take time off from his World Cup duties to caution the youth. He is a gentleman that I admire alot .He represents Dominica in a very dignified manner and should be highly complimented for the manner that he conducts himself in promoting Dominicas good name internationally. I only hope that his positive message does not fall on deaf ears.
It is people like Mr Doctrove that should be in the forefront of our Political Administration.
Why do people like you entertain such negativity. Your life will always be as miserable as it is. Thank God Billy is a man of God.
Mad of God!!!!!!
for get the streets here comes Saint Billy- pray to him when you have too much comess in your life
just wish to let UK Dca know that i refuse to believe that u saw the Billy Doctrove that i know. There must be some mistaken identity or your story is not complete. Something is not right. Billy Doctrove? Ignoring you r hello to him? Naaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!! Wheel and come again, bro ………. or sis
You should be ashamed of yourself for posting such a pathetic comment to something that is so positive. You are a disgrace to society. People like you will never see good in life and you name yourself “Bishop of Roseau? This is not funny at all. DNO should never post your comment.
Guidence Bully. Well said see you next time I come home. OK ok If you are in country.
Wise words but same caution should be extended to so called adults as well cause its not only the “youth” who embarrass Dominica
Great Words uncle billy. U rock always. u are a role model to young pple in d/ca.

I meet this guys in Gatwick airport one year went up and said hello to him and he ignored me…
a true ambassador for Dominica in did!
I Know Billy personally for over 25 years and Billy is not that kind of person. This guy is so humble and is nice to everyone so there is no way Billy would ignore any one….I am sure you speaking of the wrong person so you better get your facts right
You must have seen someone else. I don’t think you saw the Billy Doctrove that everyone knows. This man is so very humble and down-to-earth.
Give me a break. Billy is one of the most down to earth Dominicans you will ever find. Did it ever occur to you that he just did not see you or maybe was not aware you were saying hello to him? Why do we always try to bring people down?
let’s start a petition to have a statue or a road named in honor of mr doctrove,,, by now the queen should knight u,,,, i hope we don’t give u ur roses when it’s too late
hahahahahaha!
