Bounty Killer, Kes The Band to headline Creole in the Park 2011

Bounty Killer

International recording artiste Bounty Killer and Kes The Band are the headline acts for LIME Creole in the Park 2011.

The event which has become a staple of pre-independence celebrations will run from Oct 24-27 and will feature some of Dominca’s best young talent alongside more established acts and the two featured artistes.

This year’s CITP will see patrons paying increased costs on all days, with the first and second day now set to cost $3 and the last two $5, from last year’s price of $2.

Country Manager of LIME Jeffrey Baptiste has promised that, as usual, $2 from each day will go to the forestry division for upkeep of the gardens, with $1 of the price of admission each day going to the Division of Culture and the other two dollars of the admission price for days 4 and 5 going to offset the costs associated with the bigger acts.

No wonder some of us will never reach anywhere. Complain complain about the fact the bands not a Compa or Zouk band. Have a problem with Trinidadian or Jamaican or Bajan performers. It is a frigging festival, embrace the REGIONAL culture. Small minded people stuck in your ways and will never reach far. Always support your local artistes, but nothing is wrong with liking a band or performer or a different genre from another island. We are West Indians. This is so pitiful, it is funny.

You all should pay attention to the broadcast. From that you would get the entire perspective and reasoning behind the increase in price. Also, we as locals need to understand the each act/artist/band has to get paid. Would you want your fellow country men to NOT make money with the music that they contribute towards the country???

  12. I want to know
    October 6, 2011

Some of you seem to think that WCK and Triple Kay are inferior bands compared to other regional groups. Please explain what makes Dominican bands so bad and the others so much better?

    October 6, 2011

LIME can do it and WCMF can’t
Personally I think that the Dominica festical’s commission needs to partner with LIME so that artists brought down (particularly the headline final night artist) can have a dual showcase in both shows as the WCMF just doesn’t seem up to scratch in terms of content per dollar

      • Common Sense
        October 6, 2011

It is obvious why a Dominican would get more excited over Kes the band. WCK and tripple kay, all local music is being heard and seen all the time. it is nothing new to us. They perform year round. Kes the band isnt. It does not mean we do not support our local bands. Where is your common sense?

CITP has proven to be better then Creol Festival each year, the quality and variety of performers are great. I think DFC should take a page from Lime’s book . Not to mention the price of creol festival is crazy, dont they know the cheaper the price the more turn out and the more money you make, each year creol festival saying they made a lost NEVER A PROFIT you all not seeing you doing something WRONG!!!, come on . Any how I will take my creol in the park . and PARK CREOL FESTIVAL , Lime keep up the good work Blessing.

Look at the frown on the man’s face.can there be any upliftment in his lyrics and melody?how can an artist choose ‘killer or killah’ as a stage name.ban them thugs from DA!! We don’t want anymore violent music.tell them stay in jamaica.how many DA bands play in JA reggae festival? Answer me! Weponn mwen!!

    • The truth
      October 6, 2011

Do shut up. His stage name was bounty hunter and a rhyme for another artist made it bounty killer. Plus, the man has a huge catalogue of music, if you took time to listen then you would know. As well as being one of the most negative, he is probably the most positive dhall artist out there. When you book someone you book for what you want. It’s up to the promoters to tell the man what music they want and he will deliver. As for your nonsensical comment about if dca bands play in jca, well let’s face it, bouyon is our thing and no other country has really taken to it like us. But! American and Trinidadian artists do make the line up of most major jcan shows. But you wouldn’t know that, I guess you’re old and stuck in your ways. Music have evolved to more than calypso and reggae, deal with it. And it doesn’t mean that it’s all bad

      • The truth

What people seem to be saying is that kids and young people love music to the max. these performers don’t have to stoop to these lows, mixing violence in music.

Kids and youth are very gullible, this music is all around them, can’t get away from it, they do not know how to process this information. It’s that simple.

Think of this, I would love to just yell fire, in a crowded place but it’s not the right thing to do. Who knows, it may just start a stampede resulting in death to some people. Just saying…

And Bounty Killa, while admittedly a living legend, has some of the most violent lyrics in dancehall. They call him the WARLORD.
