Manager of ‘The Extasy Band’ of Petite Savanne, Sherman Antoine has said the news of the break-up of popular International Haitian Kompa Band, “CaRiMi” is a major blow for the band.

In an interview with Dominica News Online on Tuesday, he said the band always looked up to the CaRiMi.

“The news of CaRiMi break up really hit us. We looked up to the band and they now departing, that’s a big blow for our band because we have constant rapport with them,” he said.

Earlier this week, band manager of CaRiMi, Fritz ‘Fito’ Hyacinthe, said in a release on the popular, Kompa Magazine, that the band was breaking up after 15 years.

“All the band members are saddened by the news because we look up to those guys and are following their footsteps. We play a lot of CaRiMi songs,” Antoine stated.

He said the Extasy Band looked up to CaRiMi for advice.

“We had a good relationship with them,” he stated adding that CaRiMi actually donated a guitar to the Extacy Band guitarist.

He also said Extasy Band has performed with CaRiMi in the past.

Well the Xtacy band will have to find some other band to copy and do covers off of. Simple. There are much better bands like Phantom band from the same haiti. To be honest Karimi annoys the hell out of me. When was their last song released?

How can carimi break up be a major blow to local bands.?… the break up is a blow to all the promoters who got under table money to sideline local bands. The break up should be a boast for local bands so that they can ,earn from carimi and get tbe level of exposure. These gys git wealthy on use so is time for them to move on.. take note. Kkk

Benette Paul How can Carimi get wealthy on the backs of Dominicans? i guess you failed level 1 math. Last time i heard this island has about 60,000 maybe, Haiti has 10 million plus. they travel on tour and make most of their money with Haitian crowds. do ur research before writing rubbish.

We sure have our priorities screwed up!
Here it is we have a situation where the regional economy faces a serious challenge as a result of banks in the US are undertaking a De-Risking strategy that could seriously further retard our economies. But for our esteemed journalists in Dominica, it is not as important to the average citizen, as the break-up of a foreign BAND.
Oh! How I weep for my beloved country, and the level of mediocrity to which it has sunk

      Just,

I agree with you on the first part of your comment. Then second part was uncalled for. Positivity begins with each one of us. In that spirit I say.. You have it in you to project Positivity. The more we practice the better we get at it!

Good luck to Extacy Band and keep striving for greater!
