Junior Hart, the entrepreneur, is on course to walk the walk for his long term plans to materialize in 2012.
Collywood have started negotiations with major cable networks around the Caribbean to air Collywood contents such as movies and soap series produced in Jamaica, Dominica and Africa.
The first territory that we are aiming to start Collywood TV is Dominica, according to Hart. “I have always loved Dominica and the people are very friendly and pleasant, the culture is rich and vibrant and I want to cross fertilize talent from Jamaica and Dominica with Africa and show case it to local and international market,” Hard said.
Hart went on to say that in order for television to grow and please Caribbean audiences around the world, fresh ideas are always needed in providing good quality contents which at present is lacking in abundance.
Collywood have commenced filming its first Dominica/Jamaica movie project called “A Shepherd of Pure Heart” which was featured in Dominica News Online last month. The movie will incorporate Dominican and Jamaica casts.
The company is looking to launch Collywood TV by February next year once everything is finalized with the network company. “I am very excited about this new venture,” Hart noted. “we are going full out to find and work with talented individuals and companies who like our products and want to associate their brand with Collywood. Advertisers are always looking for the next big thing to hit the streets, some companies can see potential and jump on it right away and get in on the bottom floor, others are followers, they have to wait and see before they can make a move.”
Hart will be launching a new Jamaican soap series on the new Collywood channel called “Kilmarnock”. Hart invested heavily in the Kilmarnock set in St Elizabeth, Jamaica and has built up a stream of good cast members who were previously unemployed. “I intend to create the same model in Dominica by head hunting unemployed people of all ages in Dominica and provide them with employment for the future in our movies and TV productions. We are also partnering with an up and coming Media House production company, where we will be forming a new production company for Dominica called Collywood Media House,” he stated. “With this exciting move we can look forward for Dominica to become a leader in good quality and cutting edge contents for local productions. It will be the best in the Caribbean.”
Collywood will be staging its big movie premier on the 30th December 2011 at the Awarak House of Culture featuring Germina Jno Baptiste the first Dominican actress to play lead on the big screen.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the door. Ticket information is on Tel: 277 5225 or tickets can be reserved at www.Collywoodcinemas.com.
