The head of the Carnival Development Committee (CDC) is suggesting that the ministries of culture and tourism combine in order to organize carnival festivities on the island.
Alwin Bully said on radio Tuesday that without that type of collaboration, organizers have to work for the success of carnival with limited finances and human resource.
“While the DFC (Dominica Festival Committee) is really responsible for all these festivals, there’s a limit to what they can do with the size of their staff, three persons, and a limited budget,” Bully underscored.
He said greater collaboration will save money and “I think we could do things a lot more effectively”.
Meanwhile the date for the official opening parade for this year’s carnival celebrations in Dominica will be held on Saturday, February 12, instead of Sunday, February 13, which was announced previously.
Bully said the change to a Saturday will be of great benefit to patrons and local businesses in Dominica, although many lovers of the ‘Real Mas’ have stated their preference for Saturday.
