DAEC eases up on Alkaline

After weeks of vocal opposition to the performance of Jamaican artiste, Alkaline, here, the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) appears to have accepted the fact that the show will go on.

Alkaline is presently in Dominica and and he generated a buzz of excitement when he visited a Digicel store in Roseau on Friday.

DNO contacted Vice President, Pastor Arlington Wilson, who said there is nothing the association can do now and people have to just pray, an advice Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit gave to DAEC and pastors recently.

When quizzed about actions that DAEC will take at this point, Wilson said, “Nothing at this time. The best thing people have to do is pray for the best.”

He noted that he hopes no incidents take place during Alkaline’s visit, drawing reference to the number of accidents, some fatally, which took place in Dominica during the course of the week.

“I really hope that there will be no fatalities,” he said.

Wilson noted that DAEC’s executive was expected to meet to discuss the matter, but that never materialized.

Meanwhile, Alkaline has described his music as “raunchy” and “unedited.”

“I say it as it is,” he said at a brief press conference on Friday.

He said the show, carded for Saturday at the Saaman Gardens in Canefield, will be of “high energy.”

“We will be delivering all the hits,” he noted.

He also stated that in Jamaica and the region, there are many who support his music and there are many who don’t but he always remains focused.

Some believe the PM may be taking his nation out from under God’s protection.

Is this a step towards gaining the political support of the wrong people? Will he now change the laws to accommodate certain long forbidden vices?

Rebellion against God can bring God’s wrath down upon a nation. The sad thing is it is not only the wicked who suffer. This is because God wants everybody to fear Him and use their influence to deter evil works.

Tragedy after tragedy strikes but the people do not join the dots. They simply fail to make the connection. People make a mockery of sin by refusing to believe there is any relationship between the wrong doing and what happens.

If God cannot get your attention any other way the judgment will finally be catastrophic. There are examples of this in the Old Testament and later examples in more recent times.

Those who know their Bibles know the ways of God.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

I cannot believe the audacity of DAEC. They want to censor and tell me what I can or cannot attend? Who do these people think they are?
People, this is a democracy, exercise of free will ! No church or representative thereof have the right to tell me what I can or cannot do.
Good indication why we MUST separate organized religion from government. Let them preach to their congregation, and worry about their relationship with their god and not worry about mine.

Who the hell is the DAEC to tell me what I should and shouldn’t listen to? Or which concert I can or cannot attend? I have a right to go see Alkaline just as much as you have a right to go see Kanvee Adams. It is call free will/freedom of choice. That kind of thinking is what is holding the country back and not Alkaline.

We live in the 21st century, where people commenting on DNO can educate themselves online by researching legitimate sources for knowledge. Instead of doing this, we have a host of evangelical people posting seriously about ‘dark forces’ in music and ‘demons’ being unleashed by Alkaline and a whole host of other such medieval ideas. How can you seriously talk about demons and ‘dark forces’ in this day and age? Humans have gone to the moon, we have satellites that can see billions of years back into the age of the universe, we have the ability to cure diseases and modify life scientifically from the potential of stem-cell research, and yet here we are talking about demonic music as if we were in the twelfth century, or perhaps in 12 B. C. E. I am all for anyone believing whatever they want to, but I am also for people taking the time to assess the evidence for ideas before posting about them.

This Alkaline ‘controversy’ proves how un-evolved we still are. And yes, evolution…

The DAEC had no choice but to shut up, put their tail in their behind and go home while “pretending” they were praying for that is what their master ordered. They will not dare speak against what El Supremo wants because those “secret” stipends would stop coming their way. And yes, they know what I am talking about. Good job my PM. You syre put a barboochet on them. But I want to remind the DAEC that god does not like competition to his blessed throne so be careful that THEY dont bring fire and brimstone on our land due to all that hypocracy.

    Assertive, NOT Aggressive!

I want to congratulate the DOMINICA ASSOCIATION OF EVANGELICAL CHURCHES for taking a stand against the vice and evil influence posing as entertainment in Alkaline’s concert.

DAEC warned of the possible consequences. The Old Testament law (sometimes referred to as “the law of Moses”) cautioned the people of that day against certain sins “lest the land be filled with violence.” The results of such performances are not always seen immediately but the evil seed will bear fruit in days to come.

Pastor Wilson has expressed – not his opinion alone – but the collective opinion of the DAEC. By not listening to the Biblical counsel of godly men PM Skerrit has made a move towards taking his country out from under God’s protection.

Let the people of God pray God will be merciful. Let the pastors continue to preach the uncompromised Word of God and address the moral issues of the day with a greater boldness than ever before.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International…

Dear All you rightful, prayerful, religious pastors, for years Dominica`s politics has been stained by this Skerrit lead government and we have not heard or seen you all go his office, or if you have , made public of the obvious disgust and abuse of Dominica’s resources. We do not take you all seriously. Please pray for Dominica that it is delivered from this evil empire and scurge affecting Dominica. The threat to our boys are girls is not Alkaline but some politicians who use/abuse with niceties for favours and therefore compromising their offices.
. Where were you all. Are you all protecting you friends in high places. please protect our children.
Poverty is on the increase, child Abuse is rife and rising and we hear of pleasant associations with the PM.
Are you all blind to what is happening in Dominica
    Pastor Bull ….please…

  17. May 2, 2015

People are slow to join the dots.

Who is to say that Alkaline’s music (already heard) in Dominica is not one contributing cause of the vice and crime on the island that we read about almost daily in DNO? Every second month there is a report from the head of a government agency or non-government organization saying how certain vices or crimes are increasing in Dominica.

While I was researching Alkaline I read this report on a website. The artist was performing when a young woman ran to the stage and dropped on her knees in front of him. It appeared she was opening his pants. She seemed to be doing oral sex.

What did Alkaline say about this? He said “If my fans are happy I am happy.”

You cannot open your nation to this type of influence without increasing the immorality. How much worse
can it get? A loving and wise God gave us a moral code to live by. Violation of this law results in crimes of violence.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill, D.D. International Evangelist.

  20. The Facts
    May 1, 2015

DAEC obeyed authority. DAEC had no alternative but to do so. No need to fight further since the authority made a decision. In our hearts we do know not all are pleased with this man’s visit but being in a certain position, there are some who are not free to voice their opinion and against the PM.
Know this: Authorities are answerable to God for allowing such a person to perform in D/ca. In time, God will also deal with those concerned. This man with his type of lyrics should not have been invited to D/ca much more to perform to a crowd which will comprise mostly of youths. Those who invited him and gave him permission to enter D/ca and perform, your day will come.

Hebrews 13-17 – Obey your leaders and defer to them, for they keep watch over you and will have to give an account, that they may fulfill their task with joy and not with sorrow, for that would be of no advantage to you.

As noted in this case, some authorities did not fulfill their task properly.

  21. The Authorities
    May 1, 2015

Music of each generation has and will always be controversial.
The more it is restrained, the more it flourishes. That’s what helped reggae, rap, rock and hip-hop.
The older generations’ attempt to ban them only made them more appealing to the younger generations which tend to resent some of the old customs and identify with anything new and different.

Remember the days when “folk mass” which was started by the current DAEC members was referred to as “devil worshiping” by the then older generation.

These are the revelations which the DAEC has come to accept.
    Change is the only constant.

  22. The Facts
    May 1, 2015

It may appear that DAEC is defeated as some will state, they are not. They did what they felt they had to do, for the sake of D/cans especially the youths.
DAEC has done well to try their utmost to keep that man out of D/ca.
The eyes of Jesus are on every word we say and on every footstep we take. God has taken note of their effort to prevent this man from performing in D/ca. They did more than some other D/cans who are passive about his visit to D/ca.
Who are to be commended more? DAEC of course; not the non-doers and critics.
Christians know and God knows even more that Satan is very well in the world, tempting people to do and say all sorts of things, even with their bodies as some tattoo their bodies and their eyes. Oh my! So upsetting to know this.
The winner in the eyes of God is not the authority but DAEC. Know that you have done your part as Christians who pleased the Lord. This is worth rejoicing about.

His music has been allowed to play on local radio stations, local bars, clubs & 90% of social events. Why didn’t you all try to stop these “signs of darkness”, “evil”, “ungodliness” then? Smh… If there’s any evil associated with this artist, then it has already been let loose. So all the arguments, the protests, the banning wont do anything. :-D

    • The Facts

You do believe in God, don’t you? You do know that it is God’s world, He who created the world, human beings and whatever else is in the world as the sky, stars, sun, moon, animals, trees, river, lakes, streams and sea?
You do believe God knows, sees and hears all things and nothing is hidden from him?
You do believe God rewards the good and punishes the wicked, all those who do wicked things in the world and encourage others to do same, be it their lyrics in their songs?
In time, God will deal with each one involved with this man coming to and being in D/ca and his performance. They will not escape.
A man like that, Christians of all should have absolutely nothing to do with. These days some people ignore all what is good. Rather than God and godly people, they prefer evil and evil people. Woe to them! Their day/time is coming.

Dude welcome to our shores . This is offcourse no doubt going to be your best well attended show ever , cause in Dominica we transform kushoni performers into quality artiste , just ask the West indies team . I don’t expect you to sing all your songs on your albums , but continue the legacy set by artiste from your shows who kept previous shows here who gave us pieces of songs . Dude , come make your money ok . They will pay 65/75 to come see you give no show / lip sing , but find hard to pay 50 to see kkk , CK or Asa perform . Colton T is a better singer than you I must remind you , but offcourse if , he is to keep a show here , he’d not even get 3/4 of his tickets sold and our people would be like ” colton T then , stupes ” . We eat our like cannibals . Those who go to the show , you not going to die or get possessed , you were already possessed to purchase the tickets , so your sacrifice is your money …lo

We Christians of all do not welcome such people. Under other circumstances, yes. But not to perform to fellow D/cans and sing their satanic songs and other unbecoming ones. They depict that they are ungodly and do not want what is godly for the world in general. We abhor them and their evil works.
Those who attend that show will project their type.

Our Holy Scripture, our godly directive:

Jude 1:21-23 – Keep yourselves in the love of God and wait for the mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. On those who waver have mercy; save others by snatching them out of the fire; on others have mercy with fear, abhorring even the outer garment stained by the flesh.

It is obvious, this is a man that genuine practicing Christians should not befriend and rub shoulders with. Sorry for those who do. Someday, they will reap their action.

Ignorance and envy, that is killing this country. Name one hit songbthat Colton T has our right now? Yet you want to compare him to an artist that produce hit after hit after hit…

That is the reason why he does not sing whole songs, there are too many of them. If he sang the whole Tsong the concert would go on for 10 hours!!! Yet Alkaline sells out all over the world and his stage shoes are top of the line..

Has Colton T even performed outside of Dominica?

As for KKK, CK and Asa Banton, again no comparison just look anthem size of the dancehall market compared to bouyon…not many people out side of Dominica wantnto hear that Bouyon noise..

I am not sure who you are referring to.

Not all Evangelical pastors are afraid to preach the truth and stand for righteousness. I suspect if any only a small percentage are. The pastors whose churches belong to the DAEC certainly are not.

I am not the pastor of a church. I am an evangelist, and the executive director of a ministry which is a world wide outreach of evangelism and Bible teaching. We conduct evangelistic crusades for churches in Canada and other countries.

This organization http://www.livinghopeministries.ca stands for the uncompromised truth of the Word of God in Canada and around the world. We are a soul winning ministry. Because of this I focus on the cross and keep the message of salvation in first place. But I don’t hesitate to address the moral issue of our day from a Biblical perspective.

      Nikki:

Your comment is wise and well written.

Three thousand years ago King Solomon wrote in The Book of Proverbs “The curse without a cause will not come.”

By rebellion and disobedience we draw to us sickness and sufferings, accidents and death. As human beings we all experience some of these things over a lifetime. Unfortunately, this is part of life. However, when a people KNOWINGLY open their souls to Satan and demonic influence by ignoring the Word of God and violating His moral code it may bring a curse. This is when they become subject to Divine wrath which brings these things upon them at times when they would not otherwise have come.

The Bible gives us examples of God destroying cities and nations because of their sins.
