UPDATE: DAEC sets eye on Alkaline

Alkaline is set to perform in Dominica on May 2
Alkaline is set to perform in Dominica on May 2

A decision by Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) on how to deal with Jamaican dancehall artiste, Alkaline, will soon be reached, the organization’s Vice President, Pastor Arlington Wilson, has said.

Wilson told DNO on Thursday morning that at meeting held on Wednesday evening, the association agreed it would meet with the heads of various denominations to get their input and chart a way forward on the matter.

“We decided to look at different options,” he said, “So what we have actually done is that we decided to meet with different heads of denominations because all of them must come on board. We are representing them and they must be involved. So we will be meeting sometime next week to talk about what kind of approach that we should take.”

DAEC was very vocal in it stance last year against controversial artiste,  Tommy Lee Sparta, who was to be featured at a concert in the island’s second town, Portsmouth.

The DAEC even held protest action and called for a boycott of the event, since, according to the organization, Tommy Lee’s music glorifies Satan.

On May 2nd, Earlan “Alkaline” Bartley is to be the main act for a concert at the Saaman Gardens in Canefield.

Speaking from a personal perspective, Wilson said on Wednesday that performers such as Alkaline should not be welcomed to the island.

“That should not be welcomed in Dominica. That is not the best thing we need,” Wilson argued.

He said the government, despite being in a “sticky” position with the Tommy Lee Sparta matter, must stand and “protect” the country.

In the Tommy Lee Sparta’s case the government said he was deported in the interest of public safety.

Since then he has threatened to take the matter to the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) but there are indications that it could be settled out of court.

We need a separation of church and state. Religion should have no place in dictating politics; otherwise, you have a theocracy, not a government, in power. Any artist should be able to come and perform if they are not coming with the intent of actually staging violence against the nation.

So wait a second…Pastors, priests etc have right to take advantage of the young men and women, the children even the sick and dying by tricking them into putting their names in their “WILLS” but Alkaline coming to perform in Dominica is a problem? Give me a break…. Well what they should is protest again and let them arrest and deport Alkaline so they can be “SUED” again and then settle out of court to take the hard earned money for hard working Dominicans to pay that LAWSUIT…..What I think the Attorney General and the Government of Dominica should do is start making the people that brought on the lawsuit in the first place by their ridiculous actions, instead of taking money that could be used to do things in the country like building the hospital resurfacing the streets of Roseau, helping the sick and Elderly people in the country instead of having to pay people who have sued the Government…..If they try stop Alkaline and get sued well make an example of that….”LET…

        ABSOLUTELY NOT :!:

It is the responsibility of Alkaline’s promoters and managers to see that he has government clearance to present a concert and will have no problem passing through customs before they pay for airline tickets or spend one dollar on expenses.

Whoever the artist has doing this work for him have failed their client. It is them Alkaline should be suing. The DAEC owes him nothing. Nor does the Government of Dominica.

I have made six trips into the Caribbean holding evangelistic crusades in four island nations. Our work is scheduled and well planned. I have never been refused entry to a nation and have been invited back. On two islands my meetings included the largest Pentecostal church in the country. On another island I was feature in a massive open air crusade in a ball park with about eight or nine churches co-operating.

I really don’t understand DAEC, if its not Gospel music it definitely will be music for the non christians . It have a lot of jamaican artists who come during the world creole festival you never protest. If the guy was coming for creole you would never protest. During the elections you had artist that lived in drug rehab as main performer you never protest . You have a voters list where registered voters and population is just about equal you will never protest with the people who is trying to get it change it. And if you are so concerned the young have some really good song that the people want to hear just caution him about his song or songs in question. And I guess you do your research before you plan a protest so let the public know which songs aren’t fit

I am certain there are some good artistes. This organization just has to look for them in advance. They need to give themselves more time.
Why such people from Jamaica. Does Jamaica not have some decent artistes who sing decent songs, etc.?
By no means those who ingest drugs, who tattoo their eyes and other parts of their body, who sing demonic songs and who look as if they are going through hard times. Such a type is destructive and not a builder. When will some of you not think and look beyond?

Let’s take alcohol,it can be found just about everywhere. Is it everyone that drinks it and go about making a fool out off themselves. No
And that’s just one out of the many that can be used as a reference. I’m sure that there are many who do not know him and could care a less as to what he sings. He will be a stumbling block to some but certainly not to all.And that’s the way it will be right down to the end of time PEOPLE.
    However there’s hope..
For where sin abound, GOD’S GRACE abound much much much more.
    Let’s not forget that.

Sometimes as christians we think a one cut fits all every time. The Messiah when HE walked this very earth did different things in diverse and some times, in similar situations.
From the little that I know in line of immigration. It all rest upon the government. If he’s not given a work permit he can’t come in and perform. He can be granted a visitors permit and come in as a tourist.
I still can’t understand why the other chap was allowed to come in, then was arrested, and they made a fool out of themselves by doing that, when the ball is in their court in the first place.
To say the truth,I was not aware that such a person by the name alkaline existed until I saw it here on DNO.
That’s how much I just don’t listen to them, not only from Jamaica but even right here in the US.
My take on it is that, the devil in hell has his followers and that will be so right down to the end of time.

News Article Quote: “He (Pastor Arlington Wilson) said the government, despite being in a “sticky” position with the Tommy Lee Sparta matter, must stand and “protect” the country.”

Question is – Who cause the government in that “sticky” position” with Tommy Lee? Who else, but the Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) that caused that “sticky” position!!

    • The Facts

NO! That organization is to be blamed. You failed to look at the religious and morality of this issue. I suppose you are not inclined to this godly spirituality.
I have previously stated they knew about the objections but they allowed Tommy Lee to come anyway. They should pay compensation to Tommy Lee; not the government with some of D/cans’ tax dollars.
Foolish that they are, they invited this (another) nincompoop to perform in Dominica. Do they have any common sense? Blame them; not DAEC.

If his lyrics are of a negative nature why invite him here to perform? We must consider our youths because many of them are easily influenced and we would not like them to listen to music with negative messages. We as parents must be examples to our children and we should monitor what they listen to.
Just because we a democratic nation does not mean we have to allow Tom, Dick and Harry to our country, if the outcome will not benefit us.

This DAEC_pasror wilson is crazy. Alkaline is jamaican- caricom citizen, he is not on any no fly, terrorist list. He is not wanted by the dominican, jamaican, interpool,FBI ar any other law enforcement angency. Any he reside and performs in a country that the majority of the people are christians, which will be over a million jamaicans. If wilson don’t want Alkaline to perform in dominca get ready to pay, for the civil suit. Its the Commonwealth of Dominica, Not the Evangelical State.

    • The Facts
      April 10, 2015

Jamaica is not a predominantly Christian country. You think the majority of Jamaicans are Christians? What type of Christians? Do your research.
After the Tommy Lee saga, DAEC had no right to invite him to D/ca without the consent of the Prime Minister of Dominica. They lack discipline and need to learn same. They should pay for all costs incurred.

So they are not predominantly Catholic which is why they have so many murders.
When they stand before God consider the word “Protestants”. No one goes before God and says that “I am a Protestant against You.” You catch the drift?
Consider too, the number of murders per year in Jamaica. Add this up for at least 5 years and more. How many murderers are there in Jamaica who do not practice the faith? Tommy Lee and this Alcaline are two of them. How many more? I could go on and on.
By all means, those people should be kept out of Dominica. They are bad influence and for the D/can youths. Just keep them out!

Music is art…Freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom to move around is all a part of democracy. You DAEC people need to realize it is religious nut cases like yourselves who are part of this ISIL group trying to impose religious beliefs on other people. People are free to worship which ever so called god they please whether you like it or not. You are the same people who think that religion should the taught in schools & not science. You people make me scratch my head.

    • The Facts
      April 10, 2015

Yes! God gave everyone a free mind and He will not touch it. You will either worship The One True God or not. It is this same freedom which could either save you or condemn you. Figure out who will be the loser in the end. Reflect on this.

    • April 11, 2015

Actually we would be happy if the Bible (not religion) was taught in the schools, along with science (not unproven “scientific” theories).

I had a friend now passed on, a retired Ph.D. scientist (chemistry and physics) who was a senior boy’s Sunday School teacher in Willowdale Pentecostal Church in Toronto. I told the principle of a large high school in a town where I pastored a church that I would be happy to bring Dr. Carter to town to speak to the student body of the school on the theme “Creation vs. Evolution”. I offered to pay all expenses. The principle – himself a science teacher and evolutionist – refused by saying he could not get involved in anything like that.

The scientific approach is to be open minded and willing to look at both sides of an issue. This high school taught evolution. Yet it was obvious they wanted to avoid presenting a balanced picture of things.

Some of you do not know the difference between right and wrong. God did not say to rub shoulders with the enemy. Do you associate with those who hate you, your enemies?
Those who sing of such matters as of Satan have projected they are not friends of God and not the friends of those who worship God. They are our enemies. If you have godly sense you would realize that.
This is why this man should be prohibited from performing in Dominica. A Christian country should not invite them; not encourage them; not welcome them and never listen to them. This is the way it is with Our God who is All-Holy, All-Pure and All-Perfect. He wants us to live such a life. Otherwise Heaven is denied those who act contrary to His Commandments and expectations.

  20. April 9, 2015

I have not heard Alkaline sing so I cannot personally evaluate his songs. However, people whose judgment I trust have expressed their concerns.

There are popular artists who sing songs that encourage sexual permissiveness, the use of drugs, devil worship, violence, and even suicide. Their music sometimes creates such a frenzy people in the audience faint.

Music is a powerful medium for either good or bad. It is used at sports events to boost moral, in advertising to sell, and in worship to inspire. It is used in therapy to relax or arouse. It can raise or lower blood pressure.

Those who evaluate an artist’s performance must go beyond the beat and the lyrics. They will look at the kind of person he is, his history, his habits, and his lifestyle. They must ask if he will be a good or bad influence because if the youth think he is O.K. they will want to be like him.

Hopefully the government will act responsibly.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill, International Evangelist.

      April 9, 2015

Rev, I sincerely hope you would denounce Beyonce’s and Niki Minaj’s, music playing day in and day out on DBS, when they clearly worship satan? Talk about two edged swords. Allu make me sick! I’m in no way condoning this cat…I’m just saying…stand for all, not some!

      • The Facts
        April 10, 2015

If you do not appreciate those songs on DBS you have a duty to inform the management about it to voice your displeasure and concern.
Just as some of you state that people have a free mind to attend the show or not, you have a free mind to turn off that radio station. Nothing is changed or achieved if people hear/read, complain and do nothing about it.
I got so fed-up of listening to some secular radio stations and the type of songs that it is some years now, secular radio is not played in my home. It got to the point that I do not like listening to those radio stations anywhere I may be.
I consistently listen to Catholic Radio/TV which is godly entertaining, prayerful, enlightening, uplifting and which I view as a faith-builder and booster. I could never get fed-up of listening to them.
The only secular radio station I listen to is one which only gives the News and advertisements. This is satisfying.
If we are Christians we must love what is Christian-like.

      • April 12, 2015

Obviously the government has not seen sufficient cause to stop radio stations from playing the music of these artists. Or it may be that they are selective in the songs they will allow sung.

To allow an artist to come into the country and present a concert is a different matter.

        1) At a concert large doses of his music is served up to a great crowd of people.

        2) His CDs and DVDs are (I assume) sold which extends the influence.

        3) The concert draws together a multitude of like minded people who enjoy the lyrics of his songs. This generates an atmosphere that is not conductive to law and order. It often produces undesirable activity including the use of alcohol and marijuana.

        4) There have already been comments on DNO about Alcaline’s appearance. When he is seen in person he projects an image that is not what many parents want to see in their sons. And young fans have a tendency to copy their favorite artists.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches (DAEC) must come to realize that they cannot impose their ecclesiastical values on the general public. This is totally against the teachings in the bible where individuals has been given the opportunity to make choices.

If you are demonstrating such spiritual weakness in the presence of first: Tommy Lee Sparta, and now Earlan “Alkaline” Bartley, what would you do if you saw the devil himself? You mean to tell me all those prayer worriers and intercessor we have in Dominica, they cannot stand up to -“dat meg battery: Alkaline- in prayer?” When you take to protest in means you are not giving it up to God in prayer, you are taking matters in your own hands and placing yourself in the World. You would better off trying – in Dominica- to get rid of Cable TV and the internet: alas poor DNO, because that is where the evil really resides.

I recommend that you teach people correctly, and let God work on your behalf, if your prayer can he…

    • The Facts
      April 10, 2015

Christians have a right to object to such a person performing in their country. They are performing the work of God. It is a mandate from Him.
As Our Lord said, “Those who know/see and do nothing, it is a sin. They will be punished.” He also said, “If we do nothing, even the stones will cry out.”
Even though you are not a practicing Christian, you should expect Christians to object. They cannot agree with and follow people as you.
If they object and this man is still allowed in, God is satisfied that they have done their Christian part and duty. This is all for the love of God and for others.
In the words of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, “God will not ask if you succeeded. He will ask if you tried.” He knows what Christians are up against.
Then, it will be woe to those who welcome him and who attend this show. Do not say you are not reminded and warned against this man’s prospective performance in Dominica. Some of you have much godliness to learn.

    • April 11, 2015

So when will the secular world realize they cannot impose their immorality upon the general public especially upon Evangelical Christians and Catholic Christians who stand for traditional family values? We would like a godly atmosphere in which to live and raise our children.

Your government realizes Christians in Dominica own property, pay taxes, and vote. Those of you who criticise the government know it was a democratic majority vote that put them in office and returned them to power. If you are a Christian you should know what your attitude and response should be towards
the government. Please read Romans 13:1-7. This is the Word of God!

You have a God given democratic right and RESPONSIBILITY to inform your government of any legitimate concerns you have about questionable individuals seeing access to your nation. The same applies to potentially harmful activities that are being proposed.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

It is not enough just to pray.

The Lord Jesus said we must first bind he strong man and then spoil his goods.

We are to wage spiritual warfare against Satan and the forces of evil.

This includes prayer, more prayer, and much prayer.

But often there are things we must do besides pray. Satan’s soldiers must be confronted on the battlefield, wrestled to the ground, and made to surrender. The legions of hell must be driven back. Sometimes we have to serve notice to he enemy of souls that he is not taking another foot of territory,
and we are not letting him have one more son or daughter.

      Jesus is Lord!

    • April 12, 2015

You are asking why they don’t demonstrate against pastors who take advantage of young ladies/men.

Obviously you have a dislike maybe even a hatred of pastors. It is not a personal thing. It is more a matter of being against his (her) position as one who represents God and preaches the Word of God which condemns your sins and way of life.

Unfortunately pastors sometimes fail. When we do we must confess our sins (to God) and pray according to 1 John 1:7-10 for forgiveness.

However, the sins you have mentioned are especially serious because they involve hurting other people, the very people we have been appointed to help and protect. You seem to know of pastors who are doing these terrible things. A real pastor works under a higher church authority such as a superintendent or bishop. If he commits such sins he should be reported. He would be disciplined and may be suspended from the ministry. We take this seriously.

I do not know what songs this musician sings but if he sings and acts similar to the last artist, why would the promoters want him in Dominica. That is what baffles me. Why are we having this discussion?

It is as if the Promoters are daring the government to prevent the artist from coming. I think the problem is not with the artists but the promoters in Dominica. Before they approached the Artists they should clear it with immigration and now it seems the churches first to avoid this in future. This is taking a precedent that is not very good.

The village has to raise the child which include the church and it is our right to instill proper values in our children. I know nothing of the artist but those who know seem not to like what he sings, so those who want to hear him can go elsewhere to listen to him. That should not be happening now.

Here is the answer ! The Dominica Association of Evangelical Churches should
Contract with CK, and or STARs, or any other local bands & put on a free/ cheap concert the same night.
Rent the Stadium, spend some of their money.

At lease we would have a Dominican alternative provided.

But those folks may also have issues with kaiso . You never know.

      • April 11, 2015

And why not include an evangelist to preach a gospel message? I’d love to come down there and shake things up!

A few years ago I was invited by a lay Christian to visit one of your neighboring Caribbean islands to peach. I sent word back that my directors required that I first receive a formal letter of invitation from a church on the island. I received a letter signed by the pastors of three different churches bearing the official seals of each of the churches. Not only did I go but I was invited back three times and have now made a total of four ministry trips to their island.

I cannot imagine an entertainer trying to force his way in when he was refused entry by the government. Worse still these men expect to be paid for their non performances! It is like Tommy Lee pulled it off last year and then Alkaline says, “Hmmm, that was a piece of cake!” and he tries the same thing.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

    • April 11, 2015

      These things are not laughable.

You have no understanding of the role of the church in society.

For thousands of years the church through its bishops, pastors, and evangelists has advised national leaders and heads of state regarding the moral issues of the day. If they did not first acquaint themselves with these matters and make themselves knowledgeable they would not be able to speak intelligently on
      the issues.

It is no secret that for centuries the popes were the power behind some of the crowned heads of Europe. At times this was carried too far. But the point I am making is that at times they made a difference.

Dr. Billy Graham has advised American presidents. Other American presidents have sought Biblical counsel from their pastors during times of personal failure or national turmoil.

These things are not laughable to knowledgeable people.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Why are our dominican organizers bent on bringing in these Caliber of artists? This says alot about them, how much they would do and sacrifice to make money. Cant they find artists who will have a positive effect/ influence on our young ppl?
Speaking out about these issues has nothing to do with hypocrisy, we as Christians are doing what is requested of us by our Heavenly Creator. Yes some may say that no one speaks against the gay issues and that is very incorrect. We Christians continuously speak against issues which are displeasing to God. And even if the Evangelical or other representation may have failed to issue public statements concerning other issues, it doesnt make one any worse than the other. Those sinful acts are an abomination to The Almighty God and THATS WHAT WE AS CHRISTIANS WILL ALWAYS STAND AGAINST!!

What the evangelical churches need to do is reach out to their congregations and discourage them from attending the concert. In addition, encourage the congregations to live according to the Word of God. By their fruits we shall know them, their light will shine and outshine any negativity that may be caused by this performance.
Call the congregations to do a daily 10 mile pilgrimage for 9 days prior to the performance, and on the day of the performance do a round the island walk. The congregations will be so fit that all their huffing and puffing from exercising will blow away the negativity from the performance.
The government must also be careful not to be influenced by the evangelical community in preventing this performer from traveling to the island. Is there a law that says that performers can be barred because of the nature of their art? If so, then the government can step in; if not, then tread lightly.

    • The Facts
      April 10, 2015

If it is sinful and not enhancing, it should be disallowed. Why can some of you not see the sense of this?
All Christians should cooperate and denounce this man’s visit to perform in Dominica. As Christians, they have a right to do so.

      • April 23, 2015

Christians who are citizens, tax payers, and voters DO have a right to say who should NOT be allowed into the country.

If they do NOT then neither do non-Christian fans of Alkaline have a right to say he SHOULD be allowed in :!:

If opposing a concert that contains anti-religious lyrics is forcing God on people why is promoting a concert that contains anti-religious lyrics not forcing the devil on people :?:

Sad, but these questions show how those who are crusading to get Alkaline’s concert into Dominica are incapable of being objective and have lost all logic.

The PM said there is no security risk. Yet many of the people he has been elected to represent
feel the artist’s history, lifestyle, lyrics, and stage performance add up to a real security risk because they not only promote immorality, drugs, and devil worship. They encourage rebellion against all established authority including parental, police, and government.

I hope the organizers who invited him (if they already did) do not mess things up as they did when Tommy Lee was encouraged to come to Dominica, knowing that he was not welcome. God spared D/ca and the attendees from any harm which could very well have occurred.

They need to focus on the adulterous relationships taking place amongst themselves from leadership to common member, hatred and jealousy of each other and all the other ills which plagues them rather than try to prevent one man from coming and sing for 30-60 minutes whilst the radio plays his songs, their children and membership listens to his songs. • April 9, 2015

Not every bad influence can be completely eliminated. But most can be reduced to a minimum.

We cannot avoid hearing what somebody else is playing on their radio as we walk by. We need not stop and listen. We may not be able to stop what a radio station airs. But we don’t have to listen to it in our homes.

When an artist comes into a county for a concert it is a different thing. Large doses of his music will be served up to many people. His CDs and DVDs will be sold. Two things are of concern.

      (1) THE MESSAGE the artist brings. We should consider what the lyrics of the songs are actually saying. They are bringing a message. He is encouraging and promoting certain types of behavior. If people like the songs that is what they are going to do.

      (2) THE ARTIST himself. His background, dress, habits, and lifestyle should be considered. If people – especially young people – think he is O.K. they will copy him and his ways.

Evangelicals do not only care about their members. They care about everybody on the island.

They have a responsibility to provide the information about the potential for harm that can be caused by some who would visit Dominica and make it available to the population at large.

If anybody else was coming into your country to advertise, promote, or sell an attractive but harmful or potentially damaging product or line of goods would you stop the from coming or would you simply say “Let the people decide?” You would stop them :!: Why? Are you a Christian or not? If you are, you should know and, what is sinful. Why ask this question? There should be no need to ask about it. You know what St. Paul said about the practice of homosexuality.
I urge you to read/study your Bible. Hope you have one and that you are a genuine practicing Christian. God knows all about you. You should also know nothing is hidden from Him who knows, sees and hears all things.
Since you asked and probably expect someone to respond, here is a perspective according to Christian teaching. Every Church which is a Church consecrated to God is obligated to preach against sin. It is in the Bible, the Word of the Lord and should not be watered-down to please people.
Sin offends God. There is punishment due to sin. Homosexuality is one of them, for those who practice it.
The Church has not and never will rescind its teaching on what is contained in the Bible. The finality of it all is, it is the Word of God.

Those who contradict you have no terms of reference. They offer no evidence. They show they do not have the ability to be objective. You would not find them on a college debating team.

The members of DAEC are not fools. They have the educational background to evaluate Alkaline and others like him. It is what is known about certain entertainers that causes them concern. They know what it is that projects an amoral philosophy and promotes a lack of values.

The people who support this kind of entertainment are usually those who make money from it
or who enjoy the pleasure of sin and want to wallow in it. You will find those who oppose it are people who care about the country and its young people.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

    • April 9, 2015

“I wonder if the church still preaches that gays should be punished.”

When I was ordained in 1963 I received a charge read to me before a congregation. It said:

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; PREACH THE WORD; be instant in season, and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and doctrine.” (2 Timothy 4:1,2)

The commission and mandate of the church is to “preach the word.” It is indeed the mandate of every Christian. According to the Word of God homosexuals will be punished. So will everybody else who continues in sin. But all who repent and receive Christ as their Savior will be washed clean by the blood of His cross. Please examine 1

      • April 9, 2015

        Continued …

        Please examine 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and 1 John 1:7.

Homosexuals will indeed be punished if they do not repent. (Romans 1:26,27 and vs. 31, Jude vs. 7.)

We must preach this. We have no choice. We are HIS church!

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Your PM was elected to office by a majority of voters.

It may not have been your choice but it was obviously the choice of the majority of voters.

When election time comes around again you have the opportunity to evaluate his past term in office and vote again for who you think is best qualified.

The same applies to us in Canada. At times we find ourselves in disagreement with our politicians. But we should remind ourselves that the people have spoken. The Word of God tells us how we should respond to those in authority over us. This may mean nothing to non-Christians. But if we profess to know and follow the Lord it should govern our lives. It is obvious you do not know people should stay away from the occasion of sin, anything that glorifies sin, encourages it, applauds those who sin and whose lyrics are godless. This one is for you. What say you, Wheel again, are you doing for the benefit of Dominica?

    • April 9, 2015

The DAEC is exercising its democratic right when they express their concerns about Alkaline coming into the country to give a concert.

They do not have the authority to say, ”NO! the man cannot come to Dominica.” They do have the right to share why they do not think it would be in the best interests of the nation. The government has the authority to open or close the door to the artist within the boundaries of the nation’s constitution and laws.

I can tell you the DAEC is speaking out of its concern for the well being of the nation’s youth based upon what it knows about Alkaline’s past and the message conveyed by the lyrics of his songs. It should not be thought out of order for any church organization to express its opinion on a matters like this. For 2,000 years the church has advised national leaders on the moral issues of the day.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

As an evangelical I am opposed to any notion of baring a singer to Dominica. This is a free country and people are entitled to their way of life. The church must preach the gospel in love. People are free to associate with whatever ideology they want.

Many people will think your comment makes no sense.

If a man wanted to come into the country, rent a venue, and advertise to the nation a product that was harmful and dangerous they would try to prevent his entry.

It is known that certain entertainers are doing exactly that when they enter a nation, Their lifestyle is a stumbling block to anybody too ignorant or weak to make the right choices. Some artists have a criminal record. In some cases the lyrics of their songs promote sexual permissiveness, drugs, violence, devil worship, and even encourage suicide.

It is proper to oppose certain activities.

You say people should be free to choose. Unfortunately many people are like babies when it comes to choice. If we love and care about them we will not give them the option of hurting themselves.

Some of us have an understanding of some of life’s issues and we will share what we know to help people
      avoid hurt and loss.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International…

Hold a free gospel concert next door on may 2. See how many choose one over the other. God gave us all free will. Where is the DAEC with all this murder, child molestation, and other crap going on. You guys stay silent.

    • The Facts
      April 8, 2015

For murders, etc., there are government ministers/departments and the DPP who should be concerned about that since they govern the country/are the authorities. It is their duty to also establish Laws accordingly to protect nationals.
Have you yet heard any government official of all speak against this type of man being invited to perform in D/ca? Well, someone has to do it. The ball fell on DAEC. Where the ball falls, those who receive it are obligated to do their part. This is what DAEC is doing. All Christians, genuine and practicing ones at that should also play their part.
As for you, what are you doing to help to eradicate the crimes you mentioned? Look to yourself and your conscience. Some of you act as if you are exempt from standing up for what is right to do and say. As a national, you, too, have an obligation to fulfill and to ensure that such an artiste does not perform in D/ca. God will not exempt you.

”…murder, child molestation, and other crap…”

You can be sure the churches belonging to the DAEC have all at some time spoken out against these.

These are crimes that are committed unannounced by individuals in different places. We are not dealing here with an organization that is working a long range plan. It is not like we know in advance that a murder, or child molestation is being planned and have a chance to stop it.

You should understand the mandate of the church is to preach the gospel, win souls to Jesus Christ, and make disciples so they will not murder and molest children. There are things we have to leave to the government, the police, and the courts.

My ministry -LIVING HOPE MINISTRIES – http://www.livinghopeministeries.ca – is known to be a no compromise
outreach of evangelism and balanced Bible teaching world wide. Those who follow this work know that we oppose ALL evil while seeking to maintain Biblical priorities.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill…

Then if you doing a good job people will not go to the show. Preventing the guy aint gonna help. To be strong in faith is being able to look the devil in his face and knowing God has your side you cannot be fooled. No compromise in words or Actions? You guys have this evangelism thing all twisted. Talk is cheap if your actions say otherwise.

These organisers cannot get anybody good so they go after the leftovers or what??? That’s the best entertainment they can do? People, when you invite evil into your heart and home, expect evil to come to you and surround you and torment you. Everybody want to go to heaven but nobody wants to do what it takes. How about loving God? Give your lives to God people, you don’t need this. For those why cry ‘hypocrite’, well you know, there are those who genuinely love God, not ashamed of it, and live having surrendered fully to him. There will always be evil around, and even good people can fall, but they pick themselves back up again. The aim of those who love God is to get rid of their sin and faults. Being a believer does not mean you already have it all, it means you are trying your best to improve your soul. Whether this guy comes or not, those of you who attend, remember that you choose to say yes to devil.

      ABOLOR:

Thank you for your well written comment.

Christians are not perfect only forgiven. We try to live lives pleasing to God. Sometimes we fail. But to call us hypocrites is in most cases not true and very unkind.

Name calling is one of the few things these people have left to fight with. It is a poor weapon compared to the love of God, and the gospel of His grace.

Be encouraged. I have read the last chapter of the book. It says we win!

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

If this group wants the government to bar this artist from performing in Dominica, the government should ask them to sign a contract obligating them to compensate the promoter and artist for disallowing this man to enter the island. Let them put their money where their mouths are.

    • The Facts
      April 8, 2015

First of all they erred. They took it upon themselves to invite Tommy Lee, knowing his reputation and a man who is arrested for murder, without first informing the PM about it. They made a mess of the situation by encouraging Tommy Lee to come to D/ca, knowing that he was not welcome. It was their fault. They should pay him compensation; not the government.
It is now the PM who is bearing the responsibility of Tommy Lee’s complaint and compensation. He spoke too late.
Prior to contacting this character, inviting him and having him sign a contract, they should first consult the PM.
The PM needs to out rightly put his foot down and state, to the nation, this man is not invited nor welcome. Now is the time for him to do so. If the PM allows him to come, as leader of the country, God will hold him accountable for allowing this type of person in D/ca. The PM should not take that chance again and keep quiet.

    • April 9, 2015

      Wrong :!:

The artist and his promoters should have talked to the government and obtained permission to enter the country for a concert BEFORE they spent money to set it up.

The DAEC cannot be held responsible for this man’s incompetence and his promoters lack of management skills.

It seems every time one of these ”entertainers” turns around he tries to make money from it. They need to grow up and realize there are places they are simply not wanted and they are not going to be able to sue somebody over it and make money.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

are Dominican so easily influence,do they not have a mind of their own?

    • April 12, 2015

Many are. On the other hand a significant number are not.

Some are like babies when it comes to making decisions. There are young people who are immature.

The problem is many people – even older people – do not always have the facts to make a right choice. They are not immature. They are not stupid. They simply lack the knowledge of a particular subject to know how to rightly relate to it. There are people whose field of work requires them to be knowledgeable in that subject. They have a responsibility to share that knowledge to help others avoid making wrong decisions.

Before you criticize the DAEC you should know that its members are people who have the educational background to evaluate the lifestyle, appearance, and performance of an artist who proposes presenting a concert in Dominica. They know what to expect.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

  75. TRUTH & HONESTY
    April 8, 2015

Boy this country is just too hypocrite. You want to demonstrate for one thing demonstrate for everything.

    • April 19, 2015

There are many ways to address an issue.

Holding a demonstration is an effective way to address certain issues. But for other issues it would be a waste of time. The complexity of a problem often calls for a different approach in order to answer questions and provide information.

A number of social problems (or sins) have been mentioned here that would be best addressed by taking out advertising in a newspaper, putting an announcement on the radio, distributing fliers, or by a sermon in church.

However, here is a time to demonstrate. There is also a time to write a petition for people to sign and deliver it to your politician.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.
