Dominica’s representative at the second annual Caribbean Voices competition in Martinique, Daryl Bobb, has placed third in a field of 11 participants representing 11 Caribbean countries.
At the event, which was held on October 18 at the Aime Cesaire auditorium in Martinique, competitors vied for the coveted Jeff Joseph Trophy named in honour of one Dominica and the Caribbean’s music legends, Jeff Joseph. The trophy this year was won by the representative of the Dominican Republic who also received a cash prize of US$5000.00, the second place went to Barbados and US$1500.00 while Daryl Bobb picked up US$1000.00 for his third place.
The production was shot in high definition for television by a twelve camera crew and will be distributed in more than 120 countries in the Caribbean, Europe and Africa and will give the participating countries and the artists very high visibility. Daryl Bobb and the other participants are expected to undertake a European tour during the winter in the northern hemisphere in 2015.
DNO understands that the participants of last year’s inaugural Caribbean Voices competition will grace the stage of the WCMF 2014 on the night of Friday 24th.
The other nine countries which were represented at the competition are: Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago.
Congrats Bob! Well done!! Do keep on pursuing your dream and your raison d’etre… you have never allowed yourself to be boxed in and you will never be. Wish you would have gotten the first place here, for all of us, but still, you did well, and you will do better…keep on keeping on
I wish to thank everyone who has expressed congratulations to me for my efforts and achievements in the All 4 One Caribbean singing contest in Martinique. Let me add that I believe that this is what I was born to do because it is what I’m made of and I will continue to pursue great heights in music creation and performing for as long as I live, so I welcome the support and encouragement. On behalf of my loving children Abi and Dainia, I thank you dearly.
Greetings from NYC, glad to hear of your continued music endeavors using your melodious voice to share with us. Be blessed always.

Congrats. You have done well!!
congrats Bobb!!! u rock!
Great. Congratulations Bobb
Congratulations Bob. You are a top performer. I would dare say the consume performer in Dominica. Your approach to the business is admirable and though people misinterprete your confidence for pompous you continue to be persistent in what you do.
I knew you would do well and stand out. You continue to demonstrate the importance of preparedness for excellent execution. I would rather be called pompous that unprepared.
This is the kind of news that uplifts and encourages me as a Dominican.
CONGRATULATIONS Daryl Bobb. You are always persevering and this is reflected in your success. I expect even greater achievements on your European tour with the other participants. SUCCESS Compatriot!!!!
I would urge the ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture to forge closer links with the French Organizers of the Caribbean Voices Competition, especially as Jeff Joseph and his music is its central theme and the trophy in his name, the centerpiece of the competition. We cannot afford to lose this branding. See what Reggae did for Jamaica and we know about soca & Calypso in relation to Trinidad. (it may not matter now where soca originated, it is now synonymous to Trinidad.
While at University I had a hard time convincing some Senegalese and other French African nationals that Grammacks International and Exile One were Dominican bands and not French (Parisien) bands – until I showed them the cover of the LPs that the Senegalese guy had – IT WAS WRITTEN IN FINE PRINT !!!
So let’s embrace this win and consolidate our music.
Congrats to the Bob
Congrats Bobb.. You have made us proud..
Congratulations! You graced them with your golden voice and I AM PROUD!
