DFC extends $250 season-ticket price

Natalie Clarke, DFC events firector

Events Director of the Dominica Festival Committee (DFC) Natalie Clarke announced yesterday that the committee has decided, for this weekend only, to extend the 14th World Creole Music Festival’s $250 season-ticket current price tag through to October 2.

After that the prices will climb to $325 for the three-night event or $120 at the door nightly.

On Friday and Saturday the DFC will partner with Digicel to execute a ticket sale campaign that will include another one of its ticket-train initiatives designed to bring patrons closer to the upcoming World Creole Music Festival.

On Friday the DFC team will be at the Digicel location where they will sell tickets. The ticket train on Saturday will be on the south of the island.

“This weekend we are giving people the chance to come down, between now and Saturday, and buy your tickets at $250. This is a one-time flash back so get it while it’s hot,” Clarke said.

So get a proper off the shoulder blouse and a foolah that does not seem to be just tied around your neck. I would be grateful if you did that . Nous ka gade sa’w ka fe. tojou chonge sa OK.

Look, this DFC is indeed wholly sponsored by the public, but is being run like a private entity. These chairmen and directors of these boards really need to be re examined. Too many people running business that they have absolutely no knowledge off…laws governing statutory bodies needs to be amended. I mean when they formulated these laws, they did so with the mindset that capable people will be running the show, but people are being placed on these boards by mini mini mina moo, no proper way of doing selections. Then the end result of this is that, when these people behind closed doors take these ridiculous decisions, the government looks bad. There is alot of tightening up and monitoring needed in these statutory organizations, because at the end of the day, whether or not it is a board running these entities, the tax payers of the country are the ones footing the bill.

The lady may well be capable of doing her job, but all do not end with her….remember that…..

think the DFC made a slight error to the public….but maybe their present sales are so depressing, which isnt a surprise at all based of the poor economic situtation localy and globaly
thats they decided to slot in the 250 deal one last time…dont think it fair to those who bought tickets at the 300 price range….its shows a lack of proffessionalism at the DFC…anyone could take me to task for that but the DFC have short change those patrons at the 300 price range!

DFC should realise that if it wasnt for returning Dominicans, the locals on island cant sustain this fest in terms of ticket sales…”THATS A BIG FACTOR”

Thinking outside of the box,,would be a better option if some of that 27million geared for the state house atleast 4 million given to the fest have the season tickets and ecd120 and nightly ecd70
they would infact be able to get more patrons feel a ease from the higher price to make the effort for the fest which would have more spill off at the bars etc…because with the 325 range, you may not get many patrons for one.secondly less spending at the bars.they didnt see what happened last year, felt sorry for those vendors because they all ended up with major losses!

something that is rather silly of the DFC which i think is too extra..you turn around in the audience and to every 10 persons you may run into or grouped etc..5 have passes, i know the sponsors etc do get passes but in terms of cost etc to print all these stuff is rather silly give them tickets and those passes show be reserve so band, roadies security, crew and vendors but its rather a thumps down just seeing folks every where with these IDs all over the place, how can the fest make monies think last year they had more patrons with passes than revenue paying partons!

I promised that i would never make a comment on this website but when i see individuals talking pure nonsense it bugs me. The lady weather she is dominican or not is qualified to do the job so why should anyone care where she is from. Secondly when u do promotions u change things up, 300 in sep and 250 in oct is good that’s why they call it a promotion. For example when purchasing a plane ticket sometimes u check the price at night it’s one price then u go back a few hours later it changes again so what’s the issue..If at the time the promotion price is not in your budget just don’t get it, ya’ll beefing.. chupssss.. 250 is way good. Here in New York there is no way u would get a 3 night festival for 250.00 which when converted is about 90 dollars here. We need to stop being negative constantly. Every day time i read something on this website i just SMDH because i’m like are these folks writing this crap serious…

THIS IS GROSSLY UNFAIR TO FOLKS WHO BOUGHT THEIR TICKETS AT $300. THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT THE PROMOTION AT THAT PRICE OF $300

I remember being in Dominca in 2005 for the festival and my it was awsome. Whoever thought of this event “KUDOS” to you. Creole in the park, is oh my God so enchanting and I LOVE it. Keep promoting our island folks. The price is great, here in the states people pay alot more for one silly show and here we get it a $250.00 price for 3 freaking nights. AWSOME. Enjoy, I wish I was home. Love to all Domincans. Keep the Dominican spirit alive. ;~) :~)

It is clear, that the public sector is having problems managing this organization effectively and efficiently. Therefore it needs to form an alliance with the private sector in order to ensure the success of this organization. This is the smartest way out.

The DFC is an organization that requires creative management from the top down. Without that the organization’s days are numbered.

What about the folks who bought tickets at the price of $300, during September? Is a refund in order for those persons who went along with the first promotion campaign – 250 for August; 300 for September; 325 for October? If not, given the inconsistency of promotions, it would appear that for future events individuals should hold out from purchasing their tickets in accordance with early promotions…subsequent promotions may undermine the prudence of decisions to buy tickets early.

  19. September 30, 2010

who is this lady?? we need dominicans in these positions.

    September 30, 2010

I won’t be 1 of the people going to get that ticket as the lineup for the 3 nights does not appeal to my individual tastes and thus I cannot justify spending all this money to go to a show where I have to “stand” all night and am not even given a complementary drink…

look here ,you all need to be consisttent with your plans and price, you must realise people living away who wishes to visit they must plan way in advance to get there if last month u had the price at 300, next month u have it for 250 ,next 2 days a different price what you think it is , is this creole fest a gaming ting guys u got to be more consistent or sooner or later you all will lose all of it cuz as far as i can see its heading to this direction already
