All efforts are being finalized with the light and sound company for the hosting of the 2010 World Creole Music at the Windsor Park Stadium on October 29-31.
The Dominica Festival Committee (DFC) made this announcement this morning at its weekly press conference to give updates on the organizational standings of the event.
“We recognize the festival is the key tourism activity for Dominica and as such what we have done this year, as in previous years, is to put together a line up that in made up of the best available music,” said Vice-Chairman of the DFC Sobers Esprit.
He added that for the DFC the Creole festival is about bringing on stage high quality music and “what we’ve done is to ensure we focus on the core of the music, which is the creole. We have also included this year, once again, Reggae and Soca”.
Meanwhile, discussions are underway with the stadium committee to have the venue handed over by October 1 in order to facilitate the timely construction of the stage and other facilities.
“We are finalizing the arrangements with our partner companies to provide us with the support for building up the facility and providing the necessary services for a smooth operation at the festival. That will be done in the next couple of days,” he said.
Also, the DFC says it will be very selective this year with the kind of international media that receives full accreditation for the event. The committee is looking to ensure that these mediums can provide the widest coverage for both the festival and the Discover Dominica product.
“Our efforts this year is to make sure the numbers are higher,” Esprit said.
