Roseau, Dominica (August 24, 2012): The much-anticipated Dominica can Dance (DCD) show is on at the Arawak House of Culture on Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. More than 20 individuals and groups will compete at this event, the first of its kind in Dominica. Ansel Prince, Coordinator of the event, said the organizing committee is very excited.
“After months of planning, we are thrilled that the show is finally coming off on Saturday, thanks to our major sponsor LIME. It has been a dream of mine for some time now because Dominica is blessed with an abundance of talent and dancing skills are no exception. We want to bring this to the fore in a huge way and patrons can expect a show of a lifetime,” said Mr. Prince.
The vision of the DCD Committee is to create an avenue to develop and celebrate the art of dance in Dominica and organizers of the event say it’s going to be a true celebration.
“Several genres of dance will be showcased, including Latin, Creative/Contemporary, Traditional and Hip Hop, so Saturday’s show will truly be a festival of dance. We encourage everyone to come out and support the contestants and to text for their favourite performers. We want to empower and encourage persons to express themselves through dance and to elevate dance as an art form in Dominica, while engaging persons in positive and healthy activities,” they stated.
Tickets for the show cost only $10 and are available at The Glam and from members of the DCD Committee. Other sponsors include SAT Telecommunications Ltd., DHTA, DNO, Sea World Guest House, O.D. Brisbane & Sons/Brizee’s Mart, Comeseetv, Archipelago Trading, Anchorage Hotel, Guiyave, Josephine Gabriel & Co. Ltd., Susan Watty (Manager, Cellar’s Bar), Ruins Rock Café, Brian Meade, Sadique Reid (DJ Snow), Julie & Chelsea Frampton, Clint Henderson, Kester Labade, Emile Depooter, Matt Peltier/Q95, Daelen Fadelle and Xerox.

Its amazing how some people can be so negative, NEW YORK who ever you are you should be ashame of yourself, an inovative idea to keep the youth actively involved in something positive yet you cry it down, anyway I wish you the best in your life and hope you don’t approach it with that same negative attitude. Dominica can Dance is an excellent show and I am proud of the performers who took part, I’m looking forward to the finals in Decomber and for the organizers to host it again next year… Keep it positive Dominica, we can dance, THE WORLD CAN DANCE

Ok see what is the problem if they want to have a Domnica’s Next Top Model.
TO AMDIN: We are waiting on a special page to promote dominca can dance, just like QTS. Waiting….. the show was great!
that is not how it is done. This sounds like it would be a business arrangement. get with the programme.
For a price of EC $10.00, this event was worth every cent. There was a display of a wide range of talent at various stages of development, some more advanced than others. Indeed, there was a wide variety of dance on showcase, including Latin, Hip pop and contemporary dances. The comments of the judges were generally positive, encouraging and well received by the participants, who seemed to have been having great fun and enjoying themselves on stage.
However, one left the show with a sense of disappointment with the lack of originality and the absence of indigenousness of the acts. The show failed to attract any of the known dancing talents in Dominica in both the individual and group categories. There was a complete absence of traditional Dominican dances such as Quadrille, Bele, Mazook, Polka and Flirtations etc. It would have been great to have one or two of these dances on display in order to make the show a more unique Dominican experience. Too many dancers sought to emulate the styles of the performers on the popular American television show from which the show was conceived. However, in general, the show was a good one. Loved it and looking forward to the finals in December.
Look I am tired on this nonsense, all folishness we see other countries do, we want to do. This is chnaging the lfe style of our people and their are people in high position supporting these nonsense. Some one a comment, i think the person went by the name “New York”, soon we will have Dominica next top model. that person is right. The way we are going that is what they will have next. The organizers of these dumb shows will never get my money. All allyou doing is killing Dominica’s culture with all that nonsense. I wam tempted to use another word but I know DNO will delete my comment if i do………..I am PISSED.
So if you culture was live like cavemen, You wouldn’t try to adapt to the fast changing world around you?

You are just an unhappy Dominican living in New York, I even suspect you sharing a room with 10 other Dominicans just to be in America. Sorry, a born New Yorker will not just find themselves on DNO. I work in New York and know better. You sound bitter, come back home and make your contribution you hater.
Shut up!! Another foolish comment!!! You hate Americans but you watch their shows? You won’t support the local talent but you watch Miss J. I’m waiting for Dominica’s Next Top Model!!!
