Dominican-born, Canadian-based artiste, Paula Letang is making an impact on the UK Top 30 Soul Chart with her new Neo-Soul/Jazz song “Sunshine”. The song, which entered the chart at #27, has jumped 12 spots to #15 in  just the second week.

Letang describes “Sunshine” which is her own composition, as an upbeat song with feel good lyrics. The music was produced by Grammy nominated producer DJ Naydee. It is part of an album, “Rhythms of My Soul” which the singer is currently working on and which is due to be released in March/April 2017.

According to her biography, Letang is an award-winning singer, songwriter, producer and event coordinator, who has achieved great success as the radio host of the former long running French-Creole program, Experience Creole, and is now the host of the funk & soul radio program All About The Funk on CJRU The Scope at Ryerson University.

Born in Dominica, Paula grew up in Canada, and studied both guitar and piano.  Influenced by soft rock, soul, funk, country and folk music, she blends these genres to shape her own musical style.

With the French-Creole music group Levitasyon she released two full-length albums, “Nou Ka Woule” and “Ba Yo Sa”, and wrote the Urban award-nominated and Caribbean Award-winning song “Mesaj An Boutey” (Message in a Bottle”).

Revisiting her love of funk and neo-soul, Paula is working on a soon-to-be-released album that explores these musical styles.  The first single, “You Were Everything” was released in 2016 and can be heard at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTaN9jr7ksc.

Her latest release, Sunshine, can be listened to on Spotify as well as purchased at www.cdbaby.com

If I may thank all the DJs in the UK, Canada, the US, Dominica and world-wide who have been playing the song “Sunshine”. I also want to thank all the listeners and fans who have been listening on Spotify and requesting the song. You’ve all been incredibly supportive. I’m proud to note Dominica in the same breath as my musical endeavours. Wishing everyone a “Sunshine” day”

@shocked……obviously you are quite ignorant when it comes to knowing those people that big up Dominica from all corners of the world. I suggest you research Paula Letang and get your facts straight. Creole Music and being an integral part of Dominicans abroad and raising awareness to the Island has always been at her forefront. She has promoted Dominica from her Radio show’s and her music. Before you criticize others you may want to at least have some evidence to your comments. We should be celebrating the success of others and the awareness it brings to our Island, instead of finding a way to breed negativity.

Dominica-born DNO, not Dominican-born. She was born in Dominica and she is a Dominican.

There are few Dominicans out there who have contributed to the Dominican culture and artists as much as Paula. She is the most, proud Dominican and everything she does is to promote the culture of her homeland. Paula and her husband Levi “Super L” have contributed and continue to contribute significantly to the promotion of the Dominican culture and artists? I have worked with her and continue to do so. The global creole community has the utmost respect for her and she is held in high esteem. There are persons who sit in the background and work to promote the art form and she happens to be one of those, who happens to be very underrated. If we have nothing good to say please I reckon we keep quiet and get to know an individual before we open our traps with negativity! I am exceedingly proud of Paula and ecstatic from the moment she hit the charts. I am thrilled to have been given the privilege to share in that moment with her. I don’t think there is another person more worthy!

You honestly don’t have a clue of Paula years of dedicated service in the Dominican Community in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Instead of just speaking off the top of your head, do a little research.
