Promotion of the sixteenth edition of The World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) got going in Guadeloupe at the start of the weekend with Express Des Isles promising additional vessels to transport patrons from the French island to the event if the need arises.
A press conference was held at the Centre Culturelle Sonis in Pointe a Pitre attended by a number of media houses on the island, the Dominica Guadeloupe Association’s president Maymont Paul, Dominica’s honorary consul Catarina D’Alexis Cherdieu and Didier Coff, commercial director of marketing for Express Des Isles.
“We will do anything in our power to have patrons attend the festival which includes putting additional vessels if the need arises,” Coff promised.
However he said his company is concerned that late decisions by patrons pose problems when making necessary changes to the schedule. “Purchase tickets early,” he encouraged patrons. “With the high cost of fuel anytime the vessels travel with empty seats, it’s a loss for the company.”
The festival is being promoted in Guadeloupe by Vice president of the WCMF Sobers Esprit and Leroy Wadix Charles. They also held a one-hour promotion on the popular radio station Kilti-FM.
Three weeks before the event and you start promoting only now? Surely I did read that wrongly.
How can people budget- & plan that at such short notice?
That is great, but as someone previously noted, they should announce it early enough so that people can book their tickets. they should also probably offer a special discounted rate for persons traveling to and from Dominica during that time only. this promo should be done early. so that they have a clear idea of how much people will be traveling at that time. the people who are last minute can be accommodated by extra ships like Nina and Pinta. hahaha. am just kidding bout Nina and Pinta… but seriously, they should offer discounts and promote early. I LOOOOVE Creole Festival.. WOOPIEEEEEE!!!!!
Breaking Nerws: I just heard that Christoper Columbus will be sending two ships aswell to help transport people for the World Creole Festival. The first ship, “The Nina” will sail from the USA to Dummynica from Oct 25, 2012 -Nov. 5,2012 while the second ship “the Pinta” will travel from Europe on the same dates.
Columbus I understood is disappointed in his grave that the first Island he discovered is so backward and does not have an international airport, so just to help us remember history, both the Nina and the pinta will be coming.
If you have nothing positive to say, I suggest you zip it. You are just showing the entire world out there how very ignorant you are. People like you should stay away from the internet.
SPIFFCAS IF YOU DONT LIKE HIS COMENT,STAY OFF THE INTERNET, IDIOT !!!!
truth hurts and people like you must be credited for keeping dominica in darkness.
Spiffycas, I know you are not turned off by me as much as you are upset by the truth that you can see from what I say. However, as long as we continue to have a government that is so without vision, I shall not zip it out and will continue to use the internet to show the entire world how ignorant I am.
The fact is, a blind person always thinks everybody is blind and therefore I do understand your concern.
However, it is the government that is causing the entire world to see how stupid, ignorant, and backward we are in this country. Don’t blame it on me! Incase you forgot or too blind to see, let me remind you of one of their most recent case.
It was a consultant from Trinidad, paid by tax payers, to advise a government organization conference on improving air acess to DOMINICA, said during a press conference on Thursday Sept. 27, 2012, that they should “Resuscitate Canefield airport.” That should get all Dominicans angry to see the government pay a foreigner, put him in hotel, feed him only to make a mokery of us. infact a day earlier this same gentleman further mocked us by advising that “Ferry access is an important part of the access solution to Dominica.” This is 2012! I am not saying that ferry should be ignored but certainly, we need a jet airport and that’s what we should pay a consultant for.
Remember that this same Skerrit brought the PM of STV here recently to tell us that we don’t need an international airport. Ignorant as we are, off course we clapped and gave him a standing ovation. In less than a year, only to find out that he is building one in STV. This same DLP did the same thing to us in 1999 Rosie brought Antigua’s PM, Lester Bird to make that same statement and our reaction was the same. These are the things that make the world and the caribbean mock us and see how ignorant we are!
WITH THE REMOVAL OF JEANS FERRY SERVICE TO PORTSMOUTH,ADDITIONAL SERVICE WILL DEFINITELY BE AVAILABLE…
That’s a good idea, on a different note.
Can the have the information in English as to how to book on Express Des Isles i have been on the website many times trying to book a fare to Dominica and every thing is in French.. Not every one speaks french
so true!
Why don’t they partner up properly and offer discount travel and ticket packages???
quite right!!!…..organise and announce it 6 -8 months in advance so visitors can plan their journey better
MAKES SENSE..
