First Serenade Band is back

first serenade bandWhen one recalls ‘The First Serenade band’ songs such as Bef La Laje, Donkey Tricks, Easy Feeling and the Old Mas Calypso medley comes to mind.

The versatility and originality of their music has satisfied many in Dominica and elsewhere with variety in different genre of music.

The group which originated from Pointe Michel is back on the road again with musicians from a wide cross section of Dominica.

The group which had been in existence for more than twenty-seven (27) years straddled a broad genre of music including Zouk, Soca, Calypso, Bouyon, and soukous and even country and western.

However it went dormant for almost seven years after some members left the band.

Today some of these musicians have come together with renewed energy and reformed ‘First Serenade Band’.

The band’s intention is to bring back a sense of pride in Dominica’s music, foster unity and boost vitalization in Dominica’s music industry.

The group is concentrating on producing music that its audience can fully appreciate and to satisfy a wide cross section of patrons on the islands and in the regional and international community since the band believes that. Dominicans have lost the true sense of what music really is.

The “First Serenade Band” intends to keep its music at a very high standard.

The group intends to release its block buster compact disc in the not too distant future.

Since its re emergence the band has performed at a number of events and activities such as Fete La Pointe, Renegades Calypso Tent, Fort young Hotel Happy Hour, Police Calypso Show, Lime Creole in the Park, carnival Monday in Portsmouth and Carnival Tuesday in the City of Roseau, May Fest 2014 and JR’S Bar & Grill, just to name a few events.

Again, the band’s hope is to perform on both the regional and international scene and to receive the same recognition that it once enjoyed.

The First Serenade has procured a transfusion of young blooded musicians who are computer savvy and digitally literate. These new musicians comingled with the veterans have now made the band a cohesive, volatile and an awesome entity.

The members of the band are veterans Carlton Winston, Adrien Michel, Kelvin Dubuisson, Lloyd Jno.Baptiste, Christopher Dangleben and the young blooded interns are Dean Alexander, Alisha Ducreay, Semon Etienne, Elise Harris, and Ursan Tavernier.

Imagine a foreign promoter reading those comments. Then we wonder why nothing out of dominica is successful. The advantage that every country has over us is that they support what is theirs. A jamaican who doesnt smoke will tell you j.a weed is the best. A trinidadian who knows that their music now is not what lord kitchener was singing will support what they have now.. The comments section on these sites just put a magnyfying glass on our ignorance for the world to see..

    GOOD LUCK SERENADE!!!!

People get save, only what is done for Christ will last, we are living in the last days, another sewo band will not help Dominica. This country needs worship leaders, who will worship God in spirit and in truth. Lay up treasures in heaven where moth and rust doth not corrupt and where thieves do not break thru nor steal, for where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

Dominicans have lost the true sense of what music and so many other thngs really iare. Ej what a society is, man woman relations what it is to be an honorable member of parliament, or just being good people.
