“So far preparations are going good,” Leader of the Karina Cultural Group and an organizer of the show, Miranda Langlais told Dominica News Online. “It’s a lot of work and practice; also their chaperones are working very hard with them. There are also other people in the community that are helping in preparations for the show.”
Langlais is calling on other businesses to come on board to sponsor the event.
“ It is all part of Kalinago week and we have other activities planned,” she stated.
The show will take place at the Karina Cultural Village in Bataca from 8:00 pm.
Tickets cost $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children.
Kalinago Week 2016 will be observed under the theme: “Kalinago Forever, Defeat Never, Embracing Your Cultural Heritage.”
See photos below. Contestant Malorie Tyson’s photo will be added later.
This show should be bigger than the regular paegents. This is the heart of Dominica, Waitikubuli people on stage. give your supposrt as much as possible.
Such wonderful young ladies! We need to realize that the Kalinago people were the first on the island and that we must stop our discrimination against them. We must continue to support and recognize their contribution to Waitukubuli.
