Gospel singer to release album

Nicole Christian

Dominican Nicole Mariana Christian is gearing up to release her first gospel album on July 20.

The album is expected to feature a wide range of musical genres including soca, reggae, dancehall, compa, zouk and slow jam and artistes from across the region.

Christian has already released two singles from the album and they are being played on radio stations in in Trinidad, Barbados, St. Croix, St. Thomas, Antigua, Jamaica, England and Dominica.

She has also released a video dubbed ‘Glorify’ which features gospel singer, Jai from Jamaica. The video has been getting airtime on local channels (emerging in the IRZ Top Five video countdown for many weeks), Tempo and RE TV.

Christian is the daughter of Adolphus and Sonia Christian and by 11 it was clear she was destined to be a singer since by that age she had competed in numerous choir competitions. She won the Artist of Tomorrow show held at the Arawak House of Culture in 1998 and was a finalist of Star Quest; a show which was initiated by LIME (formally known as Cable and Wireless).

The 24-year-old decided to become a gospel singer because she wanted to bring “hope and good news to others.”

Why is she dressed like the world :?: :?: :?: :?: Our body is a temple of the holy spirit. How many men is she making fall wearing this low cut shirt. Do you honestly think you going to get into heaven with your boobs popping out????? NOOOOO God is holy, we must also be holy not dressed like whores.

She may have a beautiful voice but this will not get her to Heaven. Note her attire with the top of her bust protruding. Surely if she is a Christian and a genuine one at that, she should be spiritually-minded to know how to dress modestly and when she is out and in front of the camera.
Some Christian. Does she not know that when she dresses in such a manner she could be the cause of sin and temptation and contributing to same be it indirectly? Mortal and spiritual food for thought.

people it is true being a christian you do need to dress appropriately because our father said do not lead ur brother to sin but we need to realise we all have different perceptions of what that might be. i for one dont see wats wrong we are just to closed minded as dominicans because truth is we dishin out blows for nicole but we love american gospel artists like MARY MARY and i can tell you that i have witnessed these sisters perfoming in halters and tanktop clothes but dont we still love them and buy there music YES WE DO and yall know its true. im pretty sure you all dont come down so hard on them. we just need to learn to be happy for others. NICOLE MAKE THAT MONEY OK AND ALLOW GOD TO USE YOU DONT BECOME COMPLACENT OR GO DOWN THE WRONG PATH JUST KEEP PRAYING BECAUSE UR DESTINY IS YOUR OWN.

Your comment: ‘i for one don’t see wats wrong.’ This is what is wrong with you. If you are a Christian and a genuine practicing one at that and are spiritually enlightened, you would know that Christians are to dress modestly and that her attire is unbecoming of a Christian. Was she not taught and informed about that? It may be that she lacks godly spiritual enlightenment which is why she is dressed in such a manner. Others have right to criticize her for she is a Gospel singer, singing about Our Lord Jesus Christ, I hope. Not all who profess to be Christians are genuine ones.
It does not matter to me that she has a good voice and she can sing well. I, too, have a good voice. I utilize it in Church and in private. I could also make money singing but I would not dress in such a manner. However, people pursue different interests.
She may be singing for the sake of making money and to be recognized but this is as far as it goes. She may not be a genuine Christian. Her outfit tells us much.
Just take a good look at her face and the top of her blouse, exposing the top of bust. It is disgusting, for a so-called Christian. This should tell you about her and the type of person she is.
It is obvious that you are blind or pretending to be blind because you love viewing it. Some people/men love to view women who are immodestly dressed. They get a kick (putting it mildly) out of it. So ‘they will see nothing in dat.’ It is not surprising. It depends on the type of person you are.
Keep in mind we are not all one and the same. We do not possess the identical type of thinking and the likes. We who observe this type of attire know that there is something wrong with the one who is wearing it since she calls herself a Christian and sing songs about God.
Who is she trying to impress? By no means God, who is offended and disdains it when people dress immodestly and exposing herself in this manner. What else will she expose, given the opportunity and behind closed doors? Many are hypocrites, masquerading as Christians and deceiving those who are especially blind and lack godly enlightenment, those who also do not worship God and go to Church. They will accept anything and anything goes for them.
Christians who think and state that they have found God and who sing about Him and assume that by their singing they are leading people to Him as they dress in such an immodest manner are deceiving themselves.
I will be honest with you. If I attend such a gathering and I observed such an attire, I believe that I would walk out. If not or find some way to inform them about it.
We are to teach others the righteous way. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Those who know (see) and do nothing about it, it is a sin (has sinned).” It is in the Bible!
We are to correct people if we observe that they are doing something which is wrong. In this case one who is immodestly dressed. Her outfit gave her away. I am not impressed. Some of us take our Christianity and practicing our faith seriously and others do not.
If I met her and communicated with her and was told she is a Gospel singer, dressed in such a manner, rest assured that I would personally inform her about it. It is a Christian obligation which God expects of us and you know nothing about that, sadly for you.

        @ Robin

You are comparing God to you, putting Him at par with you, a little person whom He created. Your mind is such that you do not even know that you have blasphemed against God by what you stated.
You are another one who knows absolutely nothing about God. I suggest that you get to know Him. One way of doing this is reading/studying the Holy Bible specifically the New Testament, going to Church, fervently praying and to change your lifestyle. A man is judged by his lifestyle and the words which come out of his mouth. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “What comes out of the mouth comes from the heart and it defiles that person.” It is all in the Bible and how we are to dress especially if we call ourselves Christians, worshippers, followers and disciples of Our Lord Jesus Christ. God will not make excuses for us and will not exonerate us for evil habits and immodest attire, the latter, as the manner in which this woman is dressed. She should have known better. Need I say more?

i agree with justice and truth

      christianity has been redefined

this so- called gospel doesn’t impress me anymore.
i now have to scrutinise every “gospel artist” to see if they really get it

      • June 23, 2012

        @Good2Go

You are right! I agree with Justice and Truth also; a person who is Spiritually guided will know the commands of Holy Spirit.

It is true as well, that as women, we are often the cause of the temptations that takes place in the minds of men, and if that man’s mind is carnal–which is so often the case– we become the victim of the things we provoke in that man’s mind.

God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, and He was very stern about the dressing of His Priests who conducted worship in the days of Old Israel, pertaining to covering their bodies–even if they were men, much more for the women–God has not changed His demands up to today.

      @Justice & Truth

I trust that after the NUMEROUS judgmental comments you left that you meant well. By all means, this is a young lady doing something POSITIVE in her country. so many times i hear folks say that there are hardly any young persons interested in positive music these days. this one chose to sing for the Lord. after your two comments i think she got the idea that she has to be aware of her clothing. Well i couldnt tell if it was advice or expression of hatred towards your own sister in Christ. You took it upon yourself to go through almost every other persons’ ‘positive’ comment and talk about her attire and at the same time, telling the commenter how wrong they are. SUCH A SHAME. It is ok to advise the young lady and at the same time applaud her for taking a bold step in Gospel Music.

By all means, attend the show on July, 20 and put her faith to test. you do not know her and you do not know what she is capable of.

i applaud you Nicole Christian for the good work that the Lord has begun in you. Wish I could be there to support you as my sister in Christ

      @ down but not crushed

Another one who knows nothing about God and what He expects of us. If she is singing for God she must know what God wants of her. One of it is dressing modestly. This will depict how holy and a true Christian she is. Otherwise her singing ‘for God’ is in vain and will not bear any fruit.

  6. modest apparel
    June 21, 2012

How can she be a gospel singer and dress with her breast showing? Where is modesty? common people it is time to raise the standard of dress. ! Timothy 2:8

    • June 21, 2012

      @Modest apparel

I see that you have a 0-3 thumbs up and down by now so I have made you 1-3 at this time.

I ways thinking the same thing you spoke as I watched the video; and I kept saying to myself I wish she would keep her hands against her chest with that dress on, as she kept doing that a few times through her action.

Really, and truly! For a person who is supposed to be singing to God, that was still too much cleavage, with that dress she is wearing.

I was going to hold my peace, but since you have said it, just as I was thinking, so why not join with you. I still don’t think it is just the two of either. I have not read the other comments.

Nonetheless, she is okay–I would even say very good, singing along with “Mister sir”–I did not get his name. Hehehehehehe

      • Robin
        June 22, 2012

God loves cleavage!!!! Your argument is dumb! There’s no correlation between showing breasts and being rejected at the gates of heaven. Don’t you all realise it’s the male prophets who supposedly got visions from god, that added all these restrictions for women in the bible? This is only to surpress females and make you all inferior to males. All you need to start looking beyond the bible for open and clear answers about what god wants, but I know god loves boobies as he created them. You are no better than a prostitute and vice versa. You’ll be judge on your inside not the physical. Only man (all encompassing) that have created such a negative view on human body. If the story of gensis is the truth when god supposedly created adam and eve the put them in the garden of eden naked with no clothes on! So you see even god appreciated the human body! Beautiful smile and great personality, her parents have served this country well so Live the girl alone! Go and attack somebody else dam trouble makers!

First of I would like to congratulate the young lady for following her dream. It has always been said that music is the international language. Why is it that some people think that singing gospel music is God’s music, how ludicrous.Where did this foolishness comes from, but fortunately lots of people believe in such nonsense an propagate such a belief.

As to the cleavage you are referring to,i will tell you this Judgements can prevent us from seeing the good that lies beyond appearances.Your eye sees only what your mind is able to comprehend. Why is it you always use your silly religious beliefs to judge people believing you hold some authority.I hope you have not forgot that the God you are always talking about is said to have created man naked and leave him in a Garden.

i watched this video and i jus amazed at seeing a comment of this septic tank level. i think u would fit better as a Muslim. wat she wore in this vid was modest. her boobs were not hanging out and it was barely showing cleavage. people like u need to just shut up and keep ur dirty lil hypocrite mind to urself and stop being a stumbling Sanhedrin block to other people actually trying to do something positive in this world. and allu always running for some bible verse. is like a a 45, shotgun, or AK47 at allu finger tips just w8ing to pull the trigger at anyone and anybody. the Sanhedrin council died out years ago and allu still carrying the spirit to this day even though Jesus called out the hypocrisy of two major groups under that council.

You man of death, and all of the dead with you, here! It is obvious that you, humans have not heard of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Well those people who sing Gospel songs are supposed to be bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to the world, in songs–otherwise why call their songs Gospel Music.

Many of those songs have inspired people to believe and to accept Salvation in Jesus Christ–that is what the Gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to do. But those who do that work whether in song or in preaching need to show the fruit of Salvation in their attitude and conduct as well.

But of course humans like you all are blind, deaf, and do not know the difference between Light and darkness–your fate is your own choice! I hope that you all will have a great time when it happens for all of you wherever you are.

One thing she has not yet learned or grasped that as a Christian she should dress respectfully. She is lowering herself and her Christian faith when she dresses like that, a woman of the night and street. God is not pleased with this type of attire. It is also disrespectful to Him that she sings His Gospel and she dresses immodestly. When will people like her and you learn this? You call yourselves Christians?
You do not know the definition of a Christian and a genuine practicing one at that and what is expected of a Christian. Yet you will say you go by the Bible. You have much to learn. Pray to God and He will reveal this to you and enlighten you about it.
