DNO: What made you decide to enter the competition?
Hannah Peter: I was invited to participate, and I saw it as an opportunity for Dominica to see my creativity and talent, I wanted the experience and of course I wanted to promote my shop.

DNO: How confident were you that you would win?
Hannah Peter: I wasn’t very confident in the beginning. However while preparing the props for the hairstyles I realized ‘Wow, I’m doing good’. I said to my girls, ‘You know something, we going and bust their skin,we going and give it to them.’ (laughs)

DNO: How did you prepare?
Hannah Peter: All the materials I used came from my shop.I had to get a lot of extensions, prepare the props, get models, organize their outfits and that kind of thing.

DNO: Who were the members of your team?
Hannah Peter: My sister Josette Bannis who is co-owner of the business worked alongside me. I also got models who worked for free including my sister Karimah Peter who is a professional model. My other models were Chadil Jno Lewis, Dyjerlynne Peter, and Glendelle Daniel.

DNO: How did you feel when they announced that you won?
Hannah Peter: I felt shocked at first, and also very happy. Not only that I won but because I am from Portsmouth. I felt like Portsmouth won not Hannah Peter.

DNO: I’ve always wondered why do women like getting their hair done so much? Is it to impress guys? (laughing)
Hannah Peter: Not really, it’s because it makes us feel special, makes us feel cute, makes us look younger. It’s also very feminine.

DNO: Tell us a little bit about your business.
Hannah Peter: I am the co-owner of my hair shop Les Femmes Prestige, along with my sister Josette Bannis. It’s actually a hair shop with a mini-salon attached. We braid, weave, perm.We also provide the service of manicures, pedicures, mini-facials etc. In a section of the store we sell plus-sized clothing for women and even some men and boys stuff.

DNO: Where is your business located?
Hannah Peter: We’re located on the Michael Douglas Boulevard, directly opposite SAT Telecoms.

DNO: Finally, what do you have to say to potential customers who may be reading this?
Hannah Peter: Well you saw at the show what I can create, so the basic stuff is very easy for me.You get what you want. I will however look at your features, and tell you if a particular hairstyle will fit or not. Once you visit my place it’s a guarantee that I will make you beautiful.
