Reigning Junior Calypso Monarch, Janae Jackson, added another title to her musical achievements when she won the 2012 DBS Christmas Song Contest on Friday night.
Jackson captured the title with a song entitled ‘Santa Hang On’ written by her father, Ian Jackson.
2011 QTS finalist, Andese Thomas came second, Lady S – third and Corlene Letang and Anderson Angol took the fourth position.
The show featured fifteen finalists.
For more than 30 years the DBS Christmas Song COntest has provided the opportunity for the expression of talent and the bringing of Christmas cheer to the Dominican public.

do you remember i met you and your dad at royal bank many years ago .i am not surprised.you are vvery talented.i spotted you a long time.i used to be on stage with your grandpa.
I doh paying my money to come in that show again. The band wasn’t playing their best for everybody, only for certain persons. Some participants voice, you could hardly hear, the mic level keep going up and down. When will they get proper system there. And it is not fair to the participants. Now, this girl, she sang well, but I am wondering, there was nothing about Jesus in her lyrics, nothing biblical. So the question is left in my mind, do the judges even regard lyrical content? I mean, to start with, we do not have Santa Clause in the caribbean. And I understood one of the Judges on that night, never gets beyond the Calypso elimination. I think it was ghost. How could a man like this be a judge when he can’t even get pass elimination. I have been going to these shows, and in my view, the quality, and standard of this show has dropped. I just wish that DBS would get Judges that are firstly, musically inclined, and understand truelly what christmas is all about; that they would listen to the lyrics and how well it is put together and the delivery. DBS, review how you select people for Judges. I mean, look how empty there was.
