Karla Henry has been crowned the 2015 Miss DSC Mas Jamboree.

The pageant took place at the Arawak House of Culture on Thursday evening.

Henry also took home awards for Best Response to Question, Best in Evening Wear, Best Thematic Wear and Best Runway.

She was also the People’s Choice in voting done via Social Media.

First runner up was Sharisse Fabien, who won the award for Miss Photogenic.

Second runner up position went to Shantelle George. She got the award for Best Evening Wear.

The third runner up went to Brianna Vidal.

The award for Miss Amity went to Alwinar Thomas.

The winner is expected to receive, among others, a trophy compliments The Sign Man, dinner for two at the Fort Young Hotel, a Tablet compliments LIME, one year tuition courtesy the Dominica State College, and will be named Queen of the Hysteria Band during the Carnival street jump up.

Speaking to the media moments after the show, Henry said her win was “out of this world.”

“I can’t even explain, it’s absolutely out of this world. I’m so grateful for this, words can’t explain honestly,” she stated. “I am so appreciative of the efforts that was put in … my team worked extremely hard.”

A very emotional Henry stated that she was very confident throughout the competition but her win did come as a surprise.

“Honestly it was kind of a surprise because I was in a very tight competition,” she said.

When asked what she thought gave her the upper hand in the competition, she remarked she strongly believe that it was in the Question and Answer round and Thematic Wear, which she said was the most difficult.

“There were last minute mishaps but I was able to pull through that,” she stated. “I was so, so proud of myself for my performance in my thematic round and I believe that was the most difficult for me.”

She noted that the Opening Round/ Runway Round also helped since she loved modeling.

Meantime Sharisse Fabien, the first runner up, said despite a blunder in the Question and Answer Round, she was proud of herself.

“I made an error but at the end of it all no one is perfect, and I am extremely proud of myself,” she noted.

Fabien said she believes that her Talent and Thematic Wear were the high points for her.

“Honestly I thought I would have gotten the prize for the Best in Thematic wear but I didn’t. But that’s ok. I did my best and I made my family proud as well,” she stated.

Third runner up, Brianna Vidal, told DNO said she was disappointed.

“I’m disappointed. I did everything to the best of my ability,” she said.

Other participants were Tamika Balson, 18, of Fond Canie, Alwina Thomas, 19, of Penville, and Sherika Winston, 18 of Bath Estate.

Congrats Karla performed very well. You looked well prepared throughout each segment. This is the leaf that other DSC contestants need to take for improvement of the show next year. Stop comparing this show with the National Pageant these people are way above you all league. By the way the State College no longer organise the show man. I saw a set of people running up and down taking the fame and praise., where the lecturers etc as in the past. Inquiry minds want to know. Was the DSC Frachaise given to someone.???????
