Despite extensive mud making areas of the Botanic Gardens making it virtually impassable and standing in stiff comparison to England’s Glastonbury Festival (well known for its comedy, theater and circus), patrons braved the conditions and flooded the area designated for Creole in the Park yesterday evening.
Yesterday was the first of two international artiste days of LIME’s premiere daytime event with Kes the Band, one of the Caribbean’s hottest, headlining the event.
Dominica News Online got to interview lead singer Kes immediately after the performance last evening.
He said, “Dominican people are full of love and it’s one of the places that I’ve seen that’s so green and beautiful and the people match the beauty of the place. It was a pleasure. I would love to be back. This was a first time for me and it was a good first experience.”
Kes was impressed with the turnout of the crowd and the fact that the Dominican public was undeterred by constant drizzle and intermittent showers the day before that left the ground soggy and saturated.
“I think it was great. I don’t know how it is usually but I know the rain was here the day before but it didn’t seem to stop people and they came out to party, which I’m very happy for because this is you all culture. Even coming in as a foreigner, I see you all have very strong culture,” he said.
Kes urged Dominicans to support the music and culture that is unique and indigenous when he stated, “Dominica, you must always support your art form, always support the culture in your country. It is the heart, the soul and the blood of your country.”
LIME’s CITP rolls into its final day today beginning at 12 pm and will feature Freddie and Friends, Nelly Sthare, Asher Thomas, WCK, DJ Big Ben, and international artiste Bounty Killer.

allowing local talent to be exposed to huge crowds, it helps in their development, but please please get someone who is underestanding of live sound system on the committe to get the message accross to the share holders, managers or whoever is in charge to better understand the importance of profesional sound for an evet of this magnitude it was hurting to the fans, bands etc by useing a DJ sound system for such

Such an incredible artist great voice, sexy dreads spectacular stage presence n repertoire ..well put together. like the fact that he incorporated our local “yow yow” in the rep. sucks that he addressed us as St.lucia on two ocassions throughout his performance but hey he’s not the first artist to make that faux pa. #mjussayin…this guy is amazing yo! very versatile . m reminded of the black eyed peas when i look at the band’s theme. the musicians got a funky style n hot edge to em. awesome ambassador for the Caribbean!KES ROCKS!. (In my opinion: besT foreign performance since CITP’s commmencement)word!
great try arden sound next is gator sound in the park for next year the big bad sound dvd is rated top for me who vex lost it is what it is but but where is club dvd hmmmmm guess their coming harder or died i don t trust that man is talk less and more action hmmmmmm

That’s good music and lyrics compared to the koshonie our local Dominican bands singing.
There can be no excuse for a poor sound system, other than those in charge are trying to scrimp on money.
I was at a concert on one of the Caribbean islands last year and they sound system was one of the best I have heard anywhere. The music was as tight as a virgin’s you-know-what.
The systems are out there. All they need to do is pay a little more and get it.
The system did not allow the Artist to connect with the people
Saw Kes in Antigua and they had the people going crazy _ and there performance here was much better.
Agree the sound is a mess this year compared to the last two years, not professional at all, organisers common this is the year 2011 why go backwards? Creole in the park is the better festival, Lime just gave Degicel another reason to laugh at them. I will have to switch providers I hate to be on the loseing side man. ,

thats a fact Ali as a solo artist since he left UB40 uses a tel promtor close to his monitor on his mic stand as a back up for him when he sings….
thats sad indeed……best the have kareoke performances instead..thought their was a difference between live band on stage music and a organised kareoke show case..
