Female calypsonians will be first to perform at the much-anticipated Calypso Finals on Saturday night.
Marja ‘Lady Star’ Jeffers will be the first calypsonian to grace the stage at the $60 event, carded to take place at Carnival City from 8:30 p.m.
Jeffers is best known this year for her song entitled ‘Rights and Responsibilities’. She will be followed by Tasha ‘Tasha P’ Peltier, a first comer to the calypso arena, best known for her song ‘He’s a Boy’.
Former Calypso King Davidson ‘Observer’ Victor will perform third. He is known this year for his song, ‘The Next Level.’
Meanwhile, Last Year’s Calypso King Gregory ‘Karessah’ Riviere will perform at the number four spot. His calypso ‘Ian Dog Last’ has been gracing the airwaves for the past few weeks.
Joey ‘Explosion’ Lloyd, best known for his song ‘Grace, Mercy and Peace’, will perform at number five.
Dave ‘Soul Puss’ Pascal will perform at number six. He is known for the calypso ‘Respect of a People’.
Chester ‘Daddy Chess’ Letang will be the seventh calysponian to take the stage. His song ‘Fly Your Kite’ is another popular rendition this calypso season.
Cecil ‘Checker’ Burnette, known for his song ‘Deviance’ will perform in the number eight spot.
Murphy ‘Sye’ Jno Jules will come in at number nine with his controversial calypso ‘Dr. Finger’.
The tenth and final singer will be Daryl ‘The Bobb’ Bobb. Bobb returned to the calypso arena this year with his song ‘Fugitive’.
The order of appearance for calypsonians is randomly selected. At a press conference this morning calypsonians popped balloons with numbers inside to find out when they would appear at Saturday’s event.
All tickets, including the $125 VIP Party Stand tickets, will be available from Friday at the Kaiso House in Bath Estate.
Videos of the show will be on sale on the streets of Roseau as of Monday morning compliments Slam Media Corp.

Congrats to the women! One of you will capture that crown tomorrow night!
i hope they bring it live so we can hear .last year i had a blast ,this year i couldnt make it …to all dominican ,have a peaceful carnival (from all of us in newyork city )
i Have not heard any competitive calypsos this year. The competitiveness of the calypso competition went way down, since Dice backed off. The king needed a break and with Gods guidance he will be back and have the others competiting again.
no dice no show;miss u dice
Kaiso is not the same this year. Hunter and Dice left a huge void to my mind. Particularly Hunter as he has consistently given to the artform over the yeas and helps many of the other calypsonians too.
Blessings all Mr Reinging Monarch Look out dem women tight on your trail
All the best to ma boy Sye, you have our support 100%, continue to do your ting.

Anything worth doing , is worth doing well!!!!!!!
Good luck to every calypsonian, ,go girls do your thing.it is an open show may the best lady or man wins.
and happy carnival to all.God Bless Sandy
They should create a calypso for women alone so it could have a queen and king of calypso….
ALAS! I miss the Hunter. Calypso finals is just not the same without him or Scrunter for that fact even if I know Scrunter was not ready. This finals is going to be dead without Prosper. Beno would have added some real spice to it also.
best o f luck to all the calypsonians.it takes a lot of courage to go up there and perform..rand may the best man/woman win. i hope is lady starrr! she has been very consistent…..shalom!

Good Luck to all the Calypsonians. I will be rooting for King Karesa
Greeetings andf best of luck to Lady Star. Lady star got the vibes real good this time. Listening to her singing like a real calypsonian and diction and rendition looking good. Just make sure the music and the brass section is on the ball and trust me you are the person to beat this time. Keep the faith and nuff love to ya. At least u representing the populace and not getting into singing for other gains. Hope i can hear that u win the crown as a superstar woman. I will be listening from a distance!
