Three preliminary rounds will be part of preparations for The Laugh Out Loud Dominica (LOL – Dominica) Comedy Competition which returns on August 26 this year.
The event was first staged in 2022 with Cornelius Marie winning the title of Dominica’s Champion of Comedy.
According to Laugh Dominica Initiative (LDI, the event’s organizers, the preliminary rounds, dubbed Saturday Night Laugh Out Loud (snLOL), will be held in collaboration with KaTai Restaurant and Bar.
The first such event to take place on May 27, 2023, will include performances by Dominica’s top comedian Franklyn Moses, the 2022 Comedy Champion and some of the noteworthy participants in the 2022 competition.
A highlight of these comedy sessions will be an open mic which will provide the opportunity for aspiring comedians to display their talent and to be assessed as potential competitors for the 2023 competition.
The two other preliminary rounds in the LOL-Dominica Comedy Competition are scheduled to take place on July 1 and July 29, 2023.
Meanwhile the organizers say that registration is now open for those wishing to participate in this year’s competition.
