Up and coming band from the community of Trafalgar, “Look-Us Band” on Wednesday officially launched its post Erika single ‘Dominica Overcome’ on CD.

The song, which has become popular on the island and has been burning up the airwaves, was written to provide inspiration as the country struggles to cope in the wake of Tropical Storm Erika which devastated the island on August 27.

Sales from the CD and an upcoming video will go towards young children and the elderly affected by the storm.

Many Dominicans turn up outside the Prevo Cinemall, where the CD was  launched, to provide support by giving a monetary contribution of any amount in return for a CD.

Ronald Charles, an attorney who penned the song and who also provides back-up vocals, told Dominica News Online that he felt very honoured and humble at the turn out and the support from Dominicans

“The CD is actually launched today and one of the main reasons for doing so is quite a number of persons were asking for a hard copy, and they wanted a hard copy in terms of audio,” Charles explained. “So we felt obligated as a band, as a group, to put together the CD so we did that and we want to say thanks to all those who assisted to do so.”

More importantly, he revealed, collaborative efforts are being made with a number of business places to launch a video under the direction of Alwin Bully.

“The video, we hope, will be out in the next 14 or 15 days, so in the next two weeks,” Charles stated. “We are now doing the shooting, putting it together and we want to compliment the Director, Mr. Alwin Bully.”

He stated that the band hopes to produce 500 CDs locally, while in the region and internationally the band is trying its best to distribute as many as it can, based on demand.

Production of the CD was done by New Image photo located in Roseau, while a team from Canada assisted with graphics and design.

Those interested in making a contribution and obtaining a CD can do so at Wice QFM/ Q-95, New Image Photo, 7 Cross Street opposite A.C. Shillingford and at various record shops on island.

The song is also available online at www.mp3musicfactory.com.

Dominica Overcome was performed by lead singer, Jerd Dorsette and produced by Ali Rolle of Epic Lab Studio in Roseau.

DNO You should have said Jerd Dorsette with songwriter Ronald Charles of Look-Us Band, rather than LLok-Us band itself launched and produced the CD. Where are the other band memebers in all this? There are no pictures of them, and no mention of them. This is a production of two members of the band rather than the band itself. On another note, the band is not up and coming. It has been around for over 25 years. Has produced two full albums and several singles. Has performed at Creole in the Park, and the World Creole Music Festival.

Again and again, what will it take for some of us Dominican to learn, to I am Petite Savanne, you are not from the community, to be displaying this level mof hate and envy in this time of tribulation you surely need help. Mr Darroux is not the only one from the constituency residing outside of the villiage, think of the many who are now residing outside of Petite Savanne taking families and friends out of the shelters to their homes, if they were not residings outside of Petite Savanne, do you know what would life been, for you to be posting your comment asking when was the last time Mr Darroux reside in Petite Savanne, where and
what type of house he is dwelling in give me a break, this is to show that, if he
was a homeless person receiving the CD you would have say the worst of the
worst about them. I am from the area residing outside for donkey years, are you
saying that I am not in pain and hurting with my people ?, are you?, home is where the heart is , I am Petite Savanne
