Dominica has now captured the Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show title for the 6th time, after Marcia Baptiste won the crown at the Antigua Recreation Ground last night. The only island copping the crown more than Dominica is Antigua, which has won it a record 16 times.
Marcia Baptiste, Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen 2010, also won the Best Evening Wear Award and the title for the most environmentally-friendly contestant.
The first runner-up position went to Sangreena Harris, Ms. Anguilla, with Sudeakka Francis of St. Kitts & Nevis and Iva Christina Satney from St. Lucia placing 2nd runner-up and 3rd runner-up, respectively.
The Best Interview Award went to Miss Montserrat, Sherylene Dyer, while Miss Photogenic went to Trinidad & Tobago, Cherrese DeAbreau, and the Miss Congeniality Award went to Anguilla.
Big Motorcade in honour of Marcia’s victory on Thursday 5, 2010, from Melville to Roseau with stops on the way. We say a big thank you to the manager of D Blush internet cafe in Portsmouth and to Drinnon Ettienne. Dont forget to visit jayceesqueenshow.com for pics of Marcia’s Victory.
Where did you get your that fee from and could you forward me the link to have a look as that seems quite a lot, bearing in mind the paramount is placed on togetherness of the world counties.
I guess I was wrong…………?
$25,000 US dollars is a lot but can be raised considering the amount of Dominicans abroad and if each of us contribute $ EC 1, $1 US, 1 pound or 1 Euro, we can definately do it and still have enough her spending money, as I believe the provide accommodation for contestants.
As the Miss Universe Pageant for this year during Marcia’s reign has already passed, perhaps we should start setting up an appeal for all Dominicans around the world to contribute towards getting Marcia to the Miss World Pageant In November 2010, well before her reign concludes in February for Miss Dominica.
Come on fellow proud Dominicans, Dominica FestivalsCommission/Carnival Organising Committee, pull your fingers out, let’s get together all around the globe and make this happen. Perfect opportunity to do like so many of our smaller contempories and highlight DA, then also show the difference between ourselves and the Dominican Republic on a world scale.
I am standing by ready to make my contribution, however small that may be as I know we can do it together as one people/nation.
Congratulations Marcia for a job once again well done and you have made yourself and DA proud that you are ours. Good job!!!!!
I agree with what your suggestion was regarding getting Marcia to either the Miss Universe or more so the Miss World Pageant to be held at the end of the year in November of 2010.
However, how many of us are willing to step up to the plate and put our money where our mouths are, regardless of the amount that we can contribute towards a fund for Marcia to use to attend?
I tell you I am now ready to contribute $100.00 EC towards such a fund.
How about then author are you willing to contribute and start the process for such a fund going?
What do you say then…………….?!
CONGRATULATIONS MARCIA AND I GUESS MY GRANDMA WAS RIGHT WHEN SHE ALWAYS USED AS HER MOTTO, NEGATIVITY CANNOT AND WILL NOT EVER KEEP DOWN NATURAL, RAW, GOD GIVEN TALENT!
YOU SO PROVED THAT, AND HATS OFF TO YOUR HARD WORKING/MOTIVATING SHAPERSONES/TRAINERS ELMA AARON AND PRINCE ST JEAN FOR THEIR UNWAVERING COMMITTMENT, EVEN DURING THE DIFFICULT TIMES WHEN THINGS SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE.

yes queen marcia,go..go..go..there is nothing that says you have a limit when it comes to sucess.somebody in calibishie is proud of you.
@valda Bruno-Durand:
There are only two e’s in nonsense!
i was at the show in nevis right infront and marcia did her best she should have won the show but unfortunately her talent and interview was not so good but this young lady had the edge over all the other ladies at that show in the begining .marcia the nevis population liked you and was hoping that you coped the crown ,you were the most beautiful among all the other ladies. they should have placed you even though is 2nd because you deserved to be placed a particular judge didnt find it susitable and i know what im talking about.anyways non the less you won in antigua .i think that dominica need to send you to the miss universe pageant you have the attributes for that show ,please dominica try and send her in for that show pls i beg the carnival commitee.

@Money, poorer countries than us enter those types of pageants. We must make our mark! And soon! D/ca has a lot of regional companies, it’s time they step up and sponsor us. Heck, even tiny St. Kitts is participating in Miss World later this year!!
Please just enjoy the great things Marcia doing and congratulate her. Do not bring any drama into this to dampen this beautiful young woman’s talents.

I was already proud of Marcia. And even if she did not win this crown I would still be satisfied with what she previously did for us. But she has won, and that makes me much, much, much, more satisfied with her.
Way to go girl. And may God’s grace continue to remain you with and all of those who worked to enhance your success. You are such a beautiful girl! I love you!
Your Royal Highness, Ms Marcia Baptiste, I salute you! Congratulations!!!
(PS: You didn’t lose the last one; others won. Nobody loses a talent show. The Caribbean has a rich culture and many talented ladies. We are proud of fhem all.)
After the divisive outrage of the past week, it is gratifying that our cultural ambassador has harnessed some love and positive comments.
Marcia, we just love u in possi. Aint nothing changing that. so peeps, keep it positive in here. no bashing one another in here over comments. Your job is to congratulate Marcia and move on lol. look thing we in this house.
Why all u always gotta bring up some shit about haterz? Ain nobody hating on Marcia. Posse people always wanna start some useless drama.
Congrats Marcia!
congrates miss Dominicam well done you made us proud
@valda Bruno-Durand: valda u`re a hater
Congrats to Marcia Baptiste on a job well done. Hard work and determination really pays off. You deserve nothing less than the crown.
FACT: The same contestants that placed in Miss Carival are the same contestants that placed in Miss Jaycees- Dominica, St. Kitts, Anguilla and St. Lucia. Note the very same ladies served as representatives for their respective countries.
Miss Jaycees Caribbean Queen
Winner: Dominica
1st runner up: Anguilla
2nd runner up: St Kitts & Nevis
3rd runner up: St Lucia
Miss Carival
Winner: St Lucia
1st runner up: St Kitts & Nevis
2nd runner up: Dominica
3rd runner up: Anguilla
Anguilla also won the Miss Caribbean Culturama pageant in Nevis while St Kitts placing 2nd runner up. Marcia won the award for Best Evening Wear Appearance but was unable to secure a position at that pageant. She was also awarded best evening wear at the Miss Jaycees and Miss Carival.
Seems like it was the battle of the regional crowns huh? The reigning Miss Caribbean World/Miss Jaycees vs Miss Carival vs Miss Caribbean Culture! Talk about healthy competition!!
Congrats to all the respective winners
@valda Bruno-Durand:
I was hoping that you would have posted the history. based on the limited history I have, People always used to complain that the judging was unfair. Now that the complain has lessen, more crowns are returning to Dominica. As a matter of fact, the crowds at the Carnival Queen show has significantly diminished because of that fact. However, I see that Dominicans will start attending once again, because the girls are making us proud. Oh Yeah!! Possie is town we.
Congrats to Marcia! Representing DA very well!
Congratulations to Marcia on a Job well done. I listen to the Show all the way in New York. I have a few comments though. You do have a great singing voice. I just wondered why did you not sing at the Miss. Dominica Pageant? Singing is indeed your natural talent as opposed to the drama presentation. You could have brought out your message in the very same manner. But then again, our Dominican public go much more for those who presentation who makes them laugh, as opposed to those exposing the natural talent of the contestants, which is what is needed in the order Regional Competition.
Some thing of note:
At the Miss. Carival in St. Vincent – St. Lucia won, St. Kitts 1st Runner Up, 2nd Runner Dominica, 3rd Runner up Angullia. St. the Miss Caribbean Culture in Nevis a Junior Pageant to the others, Angullia won – Dominica did not place. At the Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show, a totally diderent result, with a different performance by Marcia.
I hope the search is on for Contestant for the 2011 ,Miss. Dominica and that preparations are on the way. I hope that contestants are preparing themselves, organizing their talent [ Natural Talent], doing a lot of reading on Current Affairs, being able to speak “properly” [ grace under pressure] and sharpening their Interview skills. This will certainly ensure more positive results next year following in the footsteps of Marcia and those before her.
To Tim Durand, excellent job on penning that Calypso.
@ Joyful
stop talking nonesense, the person that brought back the most crowns was Marcella From GOODWILL then Leandra from KINGSHILL i am very happy for MArcia as we all should be but doh come with that nonesense about townside people. Check your pageant history properly and for your information Portsmouth is a TOWN
Yes You have made me feel proud to be Dominican.
although I have lived out of Dominica for so long. and like some of the other contributors. I do keep up with whats happening in my country, including the pageants.
I like pageants and I have listened to all the shows live,
sometimes in between sleep and awareness…. like last night …… I woke up just in time to hear the announcement that Marcia had won. I cried and screamed and woke up my son you would swear……. because I was really praying for her….after her last show.
Something to be noted though is that Marcia won the prize best dress in all the shows around the region.
The designer of that dress must be commended. Congratulations to you.
CHEERS Marcia. You have given us one more thing to be proud about.
Dominican women we do have something special about us.
Folks, for pictures of the 2010 Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show log on to the following link. However, wait patiently for recent pics postings. Thank you. We love you Marcia. http://www.jayceesqueenshow.com
That’s what happen when the shows are judged fairly in Dominica. And they have been doing that for the past few years. In earlier times when the crown could not leave the town area. None of the representatives could bring back so much winnings to Dominica. Congratulations!! You make us proud.
we want photos people, some pictures please for those who were not in Antigua. pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Marcia Baptiste is now Miss Caribbean. Wow !. Don’t forget she won the environmental part of the contest. Marcia, you serve as an inspiration to others. You did not allow your experience in Anguilla and St.Vincent to deter you but rather to motivate you. And the results of your determination and hard work have paid up. You have won, arguably, the biggest Queen Show in the Caribbean. Congratulations.

Went to st john’s school with Marcia and grew up not 2 blocks from her in Zicack. Myself and my sister were kept indoors all the time just like her and her sisters and cousins, so it’s pretty surprising, yet wonderful to see her out in the open in such a big way. Marley was not easy! LOL. Anyway, I want to say congratulations and well done. It’s great the Dominica has such amazing representation.
congratulations to you Marcia but i must say an even bigger congratulations to Ms Elma Aaron , your chaperon. I know ms Aaron worked tirelessly. At one point i even said to her it seems like she is the one going up for the show because she practiced that talent day and night.
While we may want to praise the queen, well deserved praise might i add, we must not forget the persons who helped them get there.
Good job ECA. you go girl
Congratulations to you Ms. Baptiste. Marcia I have seen you grow up from a baby to a bright young woman. Thanks for keeping Portsmouth on the map and make Portsmouth and Dominica proud.
