The National Drumming Festival 2011 will be held in Marigot, Saturday April 31st, during the  Marigot   Mayfest. Developed by the Division of Culture the National Drumming Festival is part of the annual DOMFESTA celebrations during the month of May.

The festival will showcase traditional drumming rhythms from groups across Dominica and our French neighbours. Meantime organisers  of  the   Marigot  Mayfestival  have  signaled  the  newest  inclusion  to  its  annual  festivities  family,  the  2011 Breadfruit  festival. According  to  officials   of  the  MDC  the   event  is  meant  to  be  the  final  all  inclusive  family  event  of  the   festival.

The  2011 festival  is  set   to  feature  amongst  its  activities  a number  of   child  and  parent  oriented  competitions, and  family  friendly  entertainment  from  Popular  entertainers  and  Club DVD  DJ’S. The  event  is  the  first  of  its  kind  and  takes  a  different  trend  from  other  naturally  promoted  festivals such  as  the  Rabbit  and  Flower festivals.

According  to   the  event’s  organisers  contrary to  public  view  that  they  have  dropped  their  normal  beach  Day  event  it  is  actually  a  double  package  for  this  year’s  festival, as  shuttle boat  services  have  being  added  so  as  to  take   patrons  who  would  like  to  enjoy a  good beach lyme   to  the   closely  located  Sandbay.

The   MDC has  hailed the  partnership of  the Division of Culture and looks forward to hosting this unique tradition as part of Mayfest 2011.
