Trust DBS commentators…..asking for their village…be fair man
As former miss wob dwiyet, I wish the young ladies all the best. Take your time and go one step at a time in each category. Remember, you all are winners by just representing your villages and taking part in Dominica’s culture.
How can you give the 2011 win and title of Miss Wob Dwiyet to a lady who is not wearing a wob dwiyet. That soft cloth colourful dress is my no means a wob dwiyet. So any colourful material these days is wob dwiyet and any head wrapping is ok these days. i agree with the comment about changing the wob dwiyet. Is is actually silly going on about culture while you are changing one of the hall marks of this tradition.
what is going on, as time goes by people are changing the wob Dwiyet, I wonder why. My great grand mother lived in her wob dwiyet every day, I grew up looking at her 24/7 365 dress in her wob dwiyet and it was nothing like we have today. The piece over the shoulder and head dress is different now, people don’t even care how there dresses look nor do they carry the dress as it is suppose to be worn. Come on Dominicans research if you don’t know please do not distroy one of the most beautiful things of our country.
@shirls….it is funny you would say that….that’s exactly what was portrayed in someone’s talent last weekend at the NJ Wob Dwiyet show. That is so true….the girl who did it did an excellent job too…don’t know what the judges were looking for.
Do you have any pictures with your grandmother in her wob dwiyet. It would be wonderful if we all could get it right.
