NCCU promises a better cadence-lypso show this year

Organizers of the Cadence-lypso competition, the National Co-Operative Credit Union (NCCU) say they are working hard to ensure that this year’s show will be at “a much higher level” than last year.

“We are now ready, we are working hard and putting in place all the necessary things and so we want all artistes and song writers to get into high gear for this year’s show,” the organizers stated.

Cadence-lypso singers and songwriters have been given notice to start getting ready for the 2013 event.

At the prize giving ceremony last year, then NCCU President Dexter Ducreay dispelled any notion of the show being a “one off” affair and announced plans for the staging of the event in 2013.

“I want to announce that our patrons have demanded that we have a Cadence show next year (2013), and we have responded in the positive. For the 2013 show, the format will be as follows: It will consist of four (4) judged appearances: elimination, quarters, semi-finals and finals with one song per artist,” Ducreay stated then.

He added, “every artist will start from eliminations…..this will allow greater publicity of the show, the artist and the song. The price for the tickets will remain at $40.00 in advance and $50.00 at the gate.”

The NCCU has decided to stick to Ducreay’s promise that ticket prices would not change this year.

The date for the 2013 show is October 19, the Saturday before the weekend of the World Creole Music Festival.

If you do not put brass section to play on the night, then you will be cheating the patrons. I did not attend last year due to this deliberate ommision, and will do the same if they shortchange the paying audience once more. Get real! Step up stop this pway kai, mas bor kai bizzniss.

Who is organizing the show is it the NCCU or is it a group of persons associated to the NCCU. Looking at the NCCU audited accounts I see no revenue inflows from the show.

    Can I please be advised.
