Ncore releases new video

Portsmouth-based band Ncore, formerly MFR, have released a new music video that has caused a stir among young Dominicans, YouTube and Facebook users.

The video set to the band’s latest song, Deja Buile, was released yesterday and has already garnered some 1300 plus views on YouTube. Band manager Kent Fabien is delighted at the video’s reach thus far and hopes that it will continue to expand.

Fabien said, “As we all know, in music today, video is done for international marketing for bands, and Ncore is no exception. We created this music video for video DJs Facebook fans and YouTube users, as well as those of the public that don’t go to live performances but would like to see the band perform. This video should help NCore carve out a place for itself not only in the local market but internationally as well. We are looking to raise the acceptable standard of music and music video production, not only in the Bouyon genre, but in Dominica.”

The video was produced by local media house, 365||Media, Marketing and Production (365||MMP) and shot entirely in Dominica. “We have found 365||MMP to be one of the best media houses in Dominica and in terms of the quality of the production in this video, it should be a flagship for them, just as it will be a flagship for Ncore,” Fabien said.

“But on a separate note, although the song is about young people drinking and having fun, Ncore would like to remind its fans that the aim is to encourage persons to have fun in a responsible way, in the company of friends and always use a designated driver. We would always like to keep the message positive,” Fabien concluded.

In no way do I condone the message of the music but GREAT JOB guys! 365 great video quality! The recording quality of the music was great. I’m sure this is a stepping stone to many great things. Keep up the vision, being a cut above the rest and always stay true to the one who blesses.

I am not a fan of the bouyon music however as a fellow musician , born and raised in Portsmouth I will offer my encouragement to the Encor band. I do have some constructive criticism and I hope the guys see my comment as just constructive. First off the quality of music is much better than that which is coming from the other Bouyon bands mainly WCK and Triple K. A sign that the Encor Band has the potential to revolutionize the bouyon music into listening material. I know that there is potential in the band I wish you guys harness this energy and ability to show case real talent and musicianship not just strictly electronic devise accompaniment.

With regards to the Video I commend you guys. Good job by the 365 group. I would suggest to the Encor management that you expand your target. If you restricting your market appeal to Dominica, St Lucia or Guadeloupe then the choice of a dominant creole song is understandable however if your intension is to take advantage of a wider patronage it would have been more prudent to do your video production with a song that would capture a wider market ( non creole speaking ). Please don’t get me wrong – the song has good party appeal (overall , the best seasonal Bouyon song thus far) but to a limited audience. My opinion may come from an “ old school” or an out of touch perspective but one thing for sure is that experience is the best teacher.

Negatives , negatives, negatives. thats the problem i cant stand. to Be honest i am not a fan of boyou music. but this is a couple of young people who are trying to bring a different flavor to the music industry. i have heard music from other bands in Dominica which is to my opinion makes no sense. we always critisize when people tries to elevate themselves. remember at the end of the day only God can judge.

The video quality is impressive to the max! Video is great. I only have one problem…the excessive whining…but again i know the responses i will get. They will say what about the other music videos from the USA etc etc. But its just not classy to me! Just my 2 cents.

I suppose those who are hating on this video would rather Tripple K make a video for “who 4Q”? Or maybe WCK to make a video for “I Die Ner”.

I see nothing wrong with the music and it seems that they are having a fine time, it reminds me whenever I go to a party I do my best to enjoy myself. the young lady with the yellow shorts makes me remember my fine self when partying… Big up to you guys, nice beat….Now it is my turn….Deja Buile…booyaaa…

How much more Dominican appeal can you get out of this video. It was produced, filmed and edited by a Dominican Media company, filmed in Dominica, the first scene is done in pure Dominican dialect and the list goes on….. Not forgeting the Patois……

If you wanted to note that, it should have been in the video where you show that they can have a POSITIVE party in a RESPONSIBLE WAY.. with all that alcohol…sa pas RESPONSIBLE PYESS so don’t try to give no seperate note there.. NO COVER UP! the video is filled with alcohol!

    February 13, 2012

This is encouraging young people that they must have fun with RUM. The band members should be more responsible than that. The video is very colorful but the alcohol takes away the vibes from the music. This shows irresponsible young people.

    • My2Sense
      February 13, 2012

I think your assessment is slightly unfair…

If you had said that the video portrays individuals who appear to be below 18 partaking in alcohol consumption, then I’d have agreed with your point (given that that was the case).

But I think this video shows young adults in adult settings (a bar, a club, etc) enjoying themselves on their own terms.

There are no obviously under-aged individuals involved.

Kudos to NCore and the 365 MMP group for putting together what I think is the best quality (in terms of video and audio production) music videos done by locals.

      • Peeping Tom
        February 13, 2012
