Davidson “Observer” Victor is to get the ball rolling at the much-anticipated Calypso Finals scheduled for Saturday, February 6.
The calysonians were selected through a draw held at the Calypso House in Bath Estate on Thursday, where each participant got the opportunity to pop a selected FLOW branded balloon to choose their number.
Murphy ‘Sye’ Jno Jules will be the second to perform while newcomer Janae Jackson will perform at the number three spot.
Reigning Stardom King of the Tent, Wayne “Shadow flow” Robinson comes in at number four, while Webster “Webb” Marie will perform at number five.
Reigning three-time calypso King Karessah will perform at the number six spot, Michael “Boople” Lafleur comes in at number seven, while Cecil “Checker” Burnette is set to perform at number eight.
Seven-time Calypso King Dennison “Dice” Joseph will perform at number nine and Daryl “De Bobb” Bobb will bring down the curtains.
The show will be held at the Pottersville Savannah from 8:30pm.
Tickets cost $80 and $120 for a special sitting arrangement since there will be no VIP section this year.
The judges thief!
Nice to see that Observer is still at it after all these years. Goodwill all the way. The Crab and Manicou Hunter will take a break from hunting during the Calypso finals.
Observer, is too arrogant, and full of himself.
@ gale, you are suffering from gale winds. If you are against your own self, who else you will not be against.
So $80 eh. Why is it that we have to pay 80 dollars for a calypso finals? We paying just about 80 dollars or less for wcmf. So lets compare then. Wcmf 4 international bands on any one night with perfomance fees as high as US$75,000 no lower than US$15,000 (king gets US$8000). Pro sound and lights from overseas over US$100,000. Adds and marketing, triple the security, hotel and accommodation, transportation, food, and list goes on. Further i have never seen more people in one place at any event in dominica than those finals but still the DCA anounces 3500 patrons ever year. Just 2 years ago triple raise EC$60000. For the education trust fund at 20 dollars a head so that is 3000 people. DCA need straighten up too much boobol now man. And they even taking vip making it even cheaper again for them. So ill just have to listen on the radio because i refuse to be part of this robbery of both the calysonians and dominican people.
The calypso show is worth more than that to me.
Then give it to your opposition leader at his next “begging” thon
thinks are tight please drop on the price in stead of giving complementary tickets and persons a selling it cheap
Always save the best for last
Why no VIP? Is it because of Erika? For Carnival I singing it. Erica wohyoyoy, wayyayay, Erica why you putting Skerrit business outside.
