The feast of the community of Pointe Michel is expected to be much bigger this year, with the inclusion of another day added to the annual event.
‘Fete Lapwent’ as it is called will take place on the Pointe Michel Boulevard on November 2 and 3.
Night one will see acts from Triple K Global, De Rose, DJ Chad, DJ Spoiler, 1st Serenade band, Fya Bryte and Sherlyn and Friends.
Night two will feature Fanatick Band, Ophelia, Hunter, DJ Cut, DJ X, WCK Band, High rollers, Soufriere dance group, Original Serenade.
President of the Pointe Michel Development Committee, Ian Pinard, in an interview with DNO, said the event was created to showcase talents in the community.
“We decided to organize Fete Lapwet where persons in entertainment can come on stage and showcase their talents and also in the form of cuisine. Pointe Michel people are some of the best chefs in Dominica and we also wanted to showcase that; that’s why we came up with Fete Lapwent,” he said.
Pinard said the event, which was originally a one-day affair, was changed because many people have been coming forward eager to participate.
“For the past two years, we only had it for one day but this year we have it for two days and different performers are expected to perform,” Pinard said. “It was changed because we realize that we had a lot more persons from Pointe Michel who came forward that wanted to take part in it. And the community also decided that two days will be much better to hold the activities especially (as) it’s a long weekend.”
Pinard also mentioned that the preparations for the feast are coming along nicely. “In fact we are on board for everything … we have quite a few sponsors coming on board,” he noted.
The feast will kick off on Saturday, November 2, with an official ceremony from 5:00 pm.
Remarks are expected to be given by the chairman of the Point Mitchel village council, the President of the Pointe Michel Development committee, and the Parliamentary representative.
As it has been done in the past three persons from the community are expected to be honored in the areas of social and community service, sports and culture.
Oh Gosh. Too much fete in this country. Pointe Michel you need to organise a Prayer session where you have all the denominations come together to pray for our young people walking the streets high on drugs, swearing like nothing, and drinking.Yes it happens everywhere but we need to be more concern and stop that fete where it is all about money making and at the same time destroying our young people. You cannot even win a football game anymore. Where are the footballers? Something is wrong. Turn to God people of Pointe Michel. You have a beautiful community.preserve it. Why not Prayer La Pwet 2013.
Weh Weh Weh Dominicans all you fool, stupid, idiot, lack intelligence. iT IS CALLED PROMOTION and generating money.
Do not attend if you do have the dollars in your pocket. People cannot win there was a time when Dominica was behind time, after six oclock every thing was shut, now allu have sewo welcome it nuh.
PMDC be professional. The response was unnecessary in the manner you delivered. The “RO” person, we know what our La Salette is and don’t need to be reminded. On another note, wish I was there for this feast. Maybe next year.

I am very happy that pt Michel is being recognized, I hope this will be an annual event, we the people of la point welcome all please, just be peaceful , and enjoy, sorry I wont be there, it is cold in California but will be home soon.
Hi matt save me some pinapple, see you soon.
This is not the “FEAST” of Pointe Michel. The feast is La Salette.
This event is ‘dubbed’ fete la pwent….. check your dictionary or your thesaurus for the meaning of ‘dubbed’
well if u read properly like ro did ud also see that dno posted the feast of community of pointe michel. The feast is la salette which take place on the 19th of september.
@RO
The Feast of La Salette is a Catholic themed event whereas Fete Lapwent is a secular event. The two events are distinct and separate.
If Point Michelians decide to call Fete Lapwent a “feast”, they are within their right to do so. Who the heck dictated that the Catholic feast of La Salette should be the only feast in Lapwent? Zor Katolic toh hardi!
