Ten top finalists were launched on the weekend in in the search for Dominica’s next top supermodel.
The launch took place at the Bayfront in Roseau..
The models are:

Patrice Dorsette -Model 4
Alaina Charles -Model 5
Alisa Labassiere -Model 6
Tatianna Green -Model 7
Mervlyn Defoe -Model 8
Michelle Lewis -Model 9
Vashti Browne -Model 10
The show to choose Dominica’s next supermodel will take place at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on May 2 from 8:00 pm.
The ten will compete in the following categories.
Introduction
Swimwear
Punk Look
Professional Attire
High Fashion (Red carpet look)

Its funny how some people would rather throw stones at those who are trying to build themselves up instead of encouraging them and helping them to build confidence in themselves. What about some possitive feedbacks rather than all these nastly, negative remarks? You all should be very ashame of yourselves. Have some of you even taken the time to look in the mirror lately? All these women are beautifual black women. Ladies keep your head up and keep smiling. Don’t let other still your confidence away.

Is the intention that the model represent Dominica internationally, in the Caribbean etc?
what’s the purpose of this competition, because frankly my dears, I have not seen any model face, model pose, model look on any of these girls.
nothig about any of these girls, except perhaps some of themm have the ehigt, spells MODEL by todays definition. Even if we do not account for the idea of accepted beauty, nothing speaks model.

These girls are quite beautiful….. the only negative thing you all are portraying is that you cannot spell….. i bet you these girls education’s are way higher than you all
My opinion is that these girls have too much make up on and they are not showing their natural self.
Very basic I must say. There isn’t anything striking about these girls. Nothing Exotic. Wheel and come again.
compared to models in the US and in other caribbean countries these girls arent much the queen contestants who went up for miss dominica would even be better

I do not usually comment on here but this time I just had to do it! Was there a selection criteria in place? These girls are far from ready and I am not even speaking about their physical appearance. The poses and posture – outrageous. The make-up – hideous! I am not sure if they will be ready come May 2nd. One last thing, last year’s crop looked so much better and more like model material

Model number 6 has a foreign model look but she walks like a man. The only person I see with full modeling potential is model number 2. She has the attitude, the walk and that African beauty.
Sorry… but none of these girls meet any standard to be models…. they not pretty, don’t have model figures and do not have model poise. yo pas ada’y piess, piess, piess….

There appears to be two ladies with Afros; what is the name of the contestant fro.m Soufriere, St Mark.
There are about two strong contenders but I do apologise for stating that the rest are definitely not model material

The Soufriere contestant is the one in Afro with the green colored dress. Way to go Michelle!!!
Not the most physically attractive set… but modeling isn’t always about beauty…. sometimes it’s like being a mannequin in motion. Also the makeup is crappy, make is supposed to enhance natural beauty, not be a mask that stops at the neck.
