Police has outlined the route for the two days of street jump up on Carnival Monday and Tuesday [March 4th and 5th.].
Superintendent of Police, Richmond Valentine provided that information at a news conference which was held at Police Headquarters on Friday.
“For Carnival 2019, the Carnival route is as follows: south along Independence Street from Kennedy Avenue to King George V Street, West along King George V Street from Independence Street to the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard,” he said. “North along Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard from King George V Street to Kennedy Avenue and East along Kennedy Avenue from the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard to Independence Street.”
According to Valentine, for those visitors who are not familiar with the names of the streets, “from Jays [Bookstore] on Kennedy Avenue that is the beginning of the Carnival route.”
Revelers are then asked to move south along Independence Street, which will take them up to the lottery office.
“From the lotto office you turn right and you continue moving west along King George V Street way down to Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard,” he further explained. “And then you move north along the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard to Cocorico.”
Valentine added, “Then a right turn by Cocorico – it takes you back to the starting point back to Jays.
Carnival hours this year are from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm on Monday (March 4) and 8:00 am to 10:00 pm on Tuesday (March 5).
Make sure to install cctv cameras for optimal supervision
The logic of opposition gang bangers is confusing to me. Why do they think that putting the police at odds with the government is in the best interest of the safety of all Dominicans. The Police Association has a disagreement, a problem with their group insurance provider so the safety of all Dominicans should be at risk .
What do they have to gain by the chaos that they are advocating ? I hope the reasonableness of all prevails.
A map would of been better especially for the ‘tourists’
So why don’t you print some maps and sell it on the streets. You can have a cooler of water to sell too.
I wish all the resellers a safe carnival because security will be very limited due to the planned police sick-out or should I say “technical strike” on Monday and Tuesday and possibly continuing long after carnival. Be careful people and don’t go winning on somebody’ woman because popo will not be there to save you. Just grind on your own (if you sure is yours alone). Lots of diaspora in town with mucho trump money so ladies careful because just maybe is not you alone that is the carnival flex. No fighting with another woman or man for a temporary or borrowed Diaspora Flex. just have a good time on “washay yoe” and “jummbie-money” and be safe. Remember limited popo means more violence
The police should get a map showing the routes. There are government departments which can get this done easily. Please lets start making use of the resources and skills available.
You could print maps fore sale and make some money. That would be making use of your skills and resources. The economy of Dominica is based on free interprise not central planning. That means we are free to exploit the Carnival season as an opportunity to make some money. I remember seeing Charlimoo with a cart of candy selling. You could use his idea. Do some free lancing sales.
