For the very first time patrons of Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) will be given a $200 season ticket deal for the entire month of September.

Normally a season ticket costs $325.

The announcement was made at a World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) press conference which took place at the Dominica Festival’s Committee’s office on Tuesday, by Marketing Executive, Leroy Wadix Charles.

According to Charles, the ticket deal is one way of doing something special for the 18th edition of the festival.

“It gives us great pleasure in our 18th year because what we try to do every year is to be innovative and being cognizant of the economic pinch and we wanted to do something special in the 18th year,” he said. “And after brain storming and weeks of figuring what is the best gift we can give to the patrons who have supported the festival for 18 years, we came up with this fantastic idea and from the 1st -30th of September 2014 we will be giving patrons an opportunity to get their season tickets at only EC$200.”

Charles is encouraging all Dominicans to make full use of the special price.

“It’s history once again in the making and we want to open the festival to every single Dominican on this rock because the festival belongs to us, let’s own it, let’s be part of it,” he said.

Meantime recent trip to Martinique and Guadeloupe to continue WCMF promotions has been dubbed “an overwhelming success.”

The marketing team comprised of event assistant, Marva Williams and Charles.

According to Charles, they conducted several interviews with different media houses and for the first time they held a promotion on a beach in Guadeloupe.

“So the festival promotion took a different twist and we went to a community called Bouyant and we were on the beach for about five to six hours,” he noted.

At the beach, called Gosier, the two promoters were given live broadcasts about the festival with the French media.

Words such as “supported,” and “embraced” were also used in describing the reception from the French islands for the WCMF.

The following is the line up for the 18th edition of WCMF which organizers say is 90 percent complete.

Great initiative and great line up DFC. Ki jab WCK.
This is just a shell of what WCK used to be. No creativity and lacking the originality of the WCK I know and used to dance on and have most of their cds . WCK today is no different from any of the smaller bands. In fact some of the other bands play better than them. WCK use to run carnival. I was so disappointed with WCK this year its not funny.
Original WCK yes …that was music at CITP last year , not the noise all you making now.
    WCK get creative like ASA.
See this omission as a blessing and come back strong next year. Apart from 767 which is great i must say, only the songs with Rah, Cornel , Skinny and Nayee made that’s been played in London. None of all you new songs have the same vibes.
This is a lesson WCK . You should be an example and not competing with KKK with their style of bouyon. You should be the leaders and not followers. You are supposed to be the creators and your todays music should reflect that. Your prest music is not distinct. Its not pulsating. It has been dismal for the standard that has been set with your name. Own up and do justice to that. You have a reputation to follow. Be innovative and to accept these facts because they are true. You simply disappoint thousands of us that used to gravitate towards your music.
Leave WCK out this year DFC.
Only artists missing are Michelle and Nassio.

Well, Dominica will just get ebola nah. They don’t care…they think they are immune

    • SO URGENT
      August 28, 2014

Now this is no joke. DNO can Wadix and his team inform us how they went about or will go about ensuring that the members of that Flavor band from Nigeria do not have the ebola virus? It is no secret that Nigeria was identified on the world map as a location for the disease.

Now that you have done all that, can you please upgrade your website and services to allow patrons to purchase tickets online?

I live in Canada and I would like to purchase 3 season tickets, but I have to call a relative and ask them to buy them for me. This ought not to be the case at this time.

Don’t forget this is your 18th anniversary.
