Seven young ladies will vie for the title of Miss Wob Dwiyet 2010 on Thursday, October 28.
Last evening, the ladies were presented to the public at the opening of Dominica’s 32nd Independence celebrations at the Old Mill Cultural Center.
Nadege Roach was announced as the representative for “South City” Grand Bay, Cindy Larocque for Dublanc, while Tawana Jeremy will appear for Fond Cole.
Raquel George will represent Grand Fond and Sara-Lee Thomas will attempt to bring the title to her community of Petite Soufriere. Amira Joseph will contest for Portsmouth while Shernella Davis will vie on behalf of Woodford Hill.
The show will be hosted at the Old Mill Cultural Center from 8:30 p.m. The ladies are expected to compete in talent, best wob, and best costume rounds, among other categories.
Samantha Yankee won the Miss Wob Dwiyet 2009 title.

d girl stomach alone that outside then……………….. allu too like to look at the negatives………..that is something to bring up………….stupes
@Observer: She didn’t dress herself, nor did any of the ladies select their outfits. The clothes were provided, miss Laroucque just happens to have a fuller, more veluptuous figure than the rest of the girls so proportion wise, her clothes look different.
Go Sara-Lee… Make us proud girl…. Petite Soufriere all the way

make us proud

@Observer:
did you try 2 figure out y Cindy Stomach was exposed? If the clothes dont fit properly i mean come on………..its their first appearance. the cloth was wraped around her waist but in the movement it probably shifted. Nobody is perfect. y dont u all take the guts dat these girls take 2 come and stage and showcase their talent? it should be you! we Dominicans need 2 give our young people a chance 2 do these things. wat if none of dem was not interested in competing? there would be no show. lets stop hating and start celebrating out Independence! Thank you.
go kels go kels,you have my support,not missing that show at all,i know yu can do it.
@d: Dublanc all the way. Go Cindy. The main thing here is to showcase your talent. Just hold your head up high and focus on what you were sent here for, representing your community and Dominica as a whole. To those negative people out there, give the young ladies a chance to showcase their talents. Each and everyone of us have our favorites and we do want the best person to win not the one we favor. Let us uplift and cheer each and everyone of them on. Goodluck to all you beautiful young ladies. You all make me proud to be a Dominican.
hey shershern. show them how we do it in the northeast. u have my support. and bring home that title
Why does Cindy Laroque have her stomach or rather navel exposed. Thinks she needs to be reminded that it is not a fashion show, but an occassion to expose her talent and to potray Dominica’s culture.

To the 7 young women, present yourselves to the best of your abilities. But remember, in this 32nd Independence celebrations, reflect on what true Independence means. It means more than participation in Wob Dwiyet. More so, it is a time for reflection on who we really are, where we come from, and where we are heading as a people. Increases in crimes, unemployment especially among the youth like you all, corruption of all kinds, decline in agriculture, which gave the rural folks a sense of pride, are issues you must seriously be concerned about. Begin to free your mind from mental slavery. Political independence and celebrations Yes. Striving for ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE is even more important for our nation. In that aspect, the youth have a significant role to play. Good luck. WORDS OF WISDOM.
