An event dubbed “Taste of Dominica” aimed at bringing together all Dominican culinary delights in one calendar of activities will be featured for the first time in November, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) Colin Piper has announced.

He made that announcement while addressing a press conference for the Nature Island Food & Drink Festival held at the Anchorage Hotel in Castle Comfort on Wednesday.

“With the cuisine niche a focus of the DDA, we are looking at complimenting the Nature Island Food & Drink Festival and all other smaller festivals incorporating food into a national festival which we have dubbed, ‘Taste of Dominica’,” he said.

He said the activity will be held in November, Piper said.

“This event we hope will bring together all Dominican culinary delights in one calendar of activities along with the Nature Island Food & Drink Festival and all the other food festivals such as the Pork Fest and Rabbit Fest, the Titiri Fest and even the crab fest will set Dominica apart in the region as having a diverse cuisine niche to be enjoyed by visitors,” Piper explained. “We too are focusing on cuisine as a theme, as an experience that can attract visitors to the island.”

Meantime Piper stated that the Nature Island Food & Drink Festival is growing each year and with the continued support of the public, the sponsors and especially the media, “this event can have far-reaching benefits and potentially entice regional and international visitors to our shores for a cuisine experience.”

Nature Island Food & Drink Festival will take place on April 23rd, 28th and 29th, 2016.

Are you telling us technically Mr. Piper that DDA wont be in agreement with FLOW for organizing creole in the park this year? Sounds like this “Taste of Dominica” is saying so…. but then again I could be wrong…..

I hope that regional and international visitors to our shores have a better “cuisine experience” than one of my daughters did on visiting Dominica last week. At a Roseau restaurant in response to her request for a vegetarian dish she was served pork! At an up-market hotel venue we were offered cheese cake as an option for desert but then told we couldn’t have it because it was all mashed up!

Creole in the Park already features Dominican cuisine for four days. A Taste of Dominica should be scheduled for February or during carnival week.

Interesting observation nostalgic…. Look at who is at the forefront of planning… Are you surprised as who is in front :-? ?

On another note, for a small island where it has been said that things are tight there are so many activities, almost one after the other (Creole festival & fringe activities; Carnival & fringe activities, Jazz & Creole and fringe activities, DOMFESTA & fringe activities, A taste of DA festival coming soon and the list just seems to go on and on…) at somewhat high prices per activity. I would think that there is good patronage and some profitability to all these activities.
