I’d point all faults to the organizer. If you want to market the show, use the girls to set a standard. The girls are the product of the show. No effort is seen. If the girls look like this at a media launch, then plainly, the Organizer has no idea what she is doing. No disrespect. They are supposed to be the image of you, guide them. Even though it’s a competition, how they look, falls back on you. Develop them into a model product.

So who give a crap about you. What you should do is post your pic and take to the runway and let us be the judge. Some of Africa’s top models like Nnena, Ajuma and Ajak-Den cannot compare to any of these ladies when it comes to looks and yet they are tops. Why should we be so quick to judge and criticize our own instead of showing some support for what is ours.

Was it a cheesing competition? I mean where is the fierce model look? Where are the poses, just girls cheesing? I am not convinced to come to the show. marketing can do better than that. Vogue the girls in some serious cat woman poses, not just showing teeth! How many supermodels, have you noticed in the mags, just grinning? Maybe selling jewellery on some network. When was the last time you saw Naomi Campbell smiling? maybe when she is smacking someone, but always always she wears a fierce look. OK maybe the girls will put on that fierce look at the show, but nothing here made me want to come to the show. I am not excited sorry, bad marketing! Good luck girls, not bringing you down just saying first impressions last!

one way to feel good about oneself,is to respect another’s action if it’s not affecting you. It’s time Dominicans give respect in all aspect, unless they have walked at least a mile in one’s shoe.(all this said to say;don’t be a hater.)

It’s not hating people constructive criticism helps us to improve. If these model were selling something I certainly was not convinced to buy. There is a lack of confidence in each picture. It’s almost like they looked into the closet grabbed the 1st attire their hand reached threw it on and took a picture like someone was holding a gun to their heads. We love the idea but you got to bring more to the table. You are selling an idea, bringing out a personality etc. It’s a lot more than a pretty face. Work it baby. If you can’t take the criticism you’re in the wrong business. Sometimes you’re gonna get worse before you get better. Good luck and look at the criticism as a means to improving your skills. kudos for the effort.

I have read through all the comments so far and it hurts my heart to hear how much negative comments persons have to offer. To those who are making negative comments, have you offered the CEO help? Any one of the models? Have you all consider the fact that taking part in an event takes alot out of a person? Instead of being negative ask yourself, can i do it better? If you can, then be sure to register next year and raise the standard yourself. You cant run before you walk! Stop being negative, we all want to develop Dominica. So let’s do it together. To the ladies; i admire your courage and dedication, keep pushing you will reach far. There are many types of models out there, not all require you to be 6ft tall. Keep up the great job Ms. Augustine. Kudos for taking the first big step to increasing awareness of modeling in Dominica.

Hey girls, no one got on top for not trying. There are ups and downs in every situation. Ignore ignorant criticism, do what needs to be done to take you further.

I have an observation though, img_3911 TOO MANY PEARLS. You do not even need them.

Girls, you did not need “skinny jeans” to get started, your outfits do not make you a supermodel. Supermodels became supermodels, they did not start out as supermodels. I agree with those who wrote “if you are unable to support, SHUT UP”.

    April 27, 2013

It’s so disappointing how low the standard of the show has dropped. I was so excited at first cause started with a bang and the first shoot was amazing! Now, I don’t know if they’ve changed the entire team but the make up is bad, the photographer is horrible, the clothes…don’t even want to go there. Fashionista is right..they should be wearing jeans and matching tops (“Dominicas Next Supermodel”), provided by the organizers of the competition. When you’re in a modeling competition, you don’t bring clothes from your home to model. And that poor standard is not due to a lack of funds. Why are the girls changing in toilets? Why don’t they have a proper changing room? What is being done with the sponsors’ funds?
I feel bad for the girls because they must really want this for them to be in that mess, still. Dominica is one of the few islands that’s just oozing with beauty and potential. I think it’s about time that that gets showcased, properly.
And FYI, if a scout from any modeling agency (those in Dominica don’t count, cause they don’t get their “models” any real work) walks into the room, the only person who would get looked at is the tall beauty.
    Good luck girl. Poh couwa’i.

You see why i always say I am ashame to be DOMINICAN? because they are too shallow minded and negative. If you cannot say something to uplift the young ladies, then stay off the sight. When they do drugs, allyou complain, when they fall by the wayside, alyou complain. Now they trying something positive, allyou bashing them down. What a NATION!!!!!! I just cannot understand how a nation can be so negative. Other people (none Dominicans read these comments and it is so sad what they have to say about dominicans. You all need to try to change. big up to the young ladies

      • Fashionista
        April 26, 2013

when the girls began in ANTM, they looked lame…after their makeovers they looked like real fashion models.

these girls here are the top ten, and had their makeovers and are supposedly being trained for the show ….I can understand where SMH’s comment is coming from.

      April 26, 2013

I think we need to encourage our youths when they take positive initiatives instead of being so negative towards them.

It is better to see the positive in their efforts than to ridicule them.

Young ladies be the best you can be.

    • baby sham
      April 26, 2013

smh. u need to shut up. talking about their dressing. some of these young ladies are struggling to make it and trying their best to dress how they can because unlike some of us that can afford outfits and hair dresser some can’t. They are trying to do what they can to achieve their goals.
people go to school and they dont have money but they sacrifice to achieve their goals even if is one shirt they have to go class. people make sacrifices to get where they want to be in life. instead of saying things like that support or sponsor the event.

      • dominica next what?
        April 28, 2013

you need to hush, because this is supposed to be professional show with prizes to go overseas to model. if they go up there like that, they oing to eat them alive. we cannot be easy on them just because they’re domincans. because when they go overs nobody going to be easy on them. they will chew them and spit them out because they were bad and their friends didn’t tell them so. they need to step up their game. if they poor use what they have but make it look like it it cost a million bucks. that’s what ruth should be teaching them. not to look like secretaries.
