A concert appearance in Portsmouth by controversial dancehall artiste, Tommy Lee Sparta, is in doubt, according to his manager Junior ‘Heavy D’ Fraser.

The Jamaica Observer is quoting Fraser as saying that Sparta is in danger of losing several overseas appearances this month and March.

“We have a show every week… In Dominica, this coming weekend; Russia, the next weekend; followed by Antigua,” Fraser told the Observer.

The artiste, whose real name is Leroy Russell, was arrested on February 3 on suspicions of participating in a Jamaica lottery scam.

Four other people were arrested with him.

They have not been charged.

The Jamaica Observer reported that Sparta’s attorney, Bert Samuel, as saying police are continuing their investigations into the matter and he is awaiting word from them.

“I won’t hear from them until Wednesday (today),” Samuel told the Observer.

The artiste is expected to headline the concert at the Arbeedee Cinema on February 16.

Sparta’s local gig has drawn widespread criticism from the local religious community who says his songs promote violence.

Why do pig eating christians have a problem with Tommy Lee? Man just trying to feed his family. If u don’t like his music don’t go but praying to stop him is going overboard, and is downright crazy.

Dominica was once a pre-dominantly Christian country and in those days where there were very few criminal activities. I expect there are still many Christians and worshippers in D/ca. No doubt, this is the reason why many spoke against this man and demonstrated against him coming to Dominica.
Continue to stand up for morality and the truth and keep out evil as much as possible in D/ca. The Lord said, “Fear not. I am with you always.” Thanks be to God!

Are you blind and deaf? To begin with his songs breed violence. Now he was arrested, if not yet charged. When the investigation is completed, he may very well be charged in the future. Then all countries will deny him entry. Who wants a man as that in their country to perform to their nationals?
Under the circumstances of this investigation, I do not think the Jamaican authorities will allow him to leave the country.

let’s support what is right and wholesome for our children and our nation. when a man is talking about shooting people and opening there heads and stomach.. is that what you support? Is that what you standard for? well if it is, don’t feel sorry when you hear of another killed young man. don’t feel sorry when it hits close to home. instead buy his bloody album and play it.

Wow, since when has the people of Dominica become so intolerant of others, they are far worse than in the 70s about Rastafarian at least that what my mother fusses. The thing is that apparently they are transferring their dissatisfaction to this singer. Please get more involved in what has a direct bearing on your wellbeing than some singer that you call the devil when you live in an island known for its practice of Obeah.

      February 12, 2014

You call that intolerant? Where is your mind? You are not thinking straight and/or misunderstood what this issue is all about. Are you playing a game of pretense? Do the reasons have to be explained to you?
There are two issues here. Firstly, the majority of D/cans do not want him to perform in view of his destructive, satanic lyrics. Secondly, he was arrested in Jamaica. Read the article again and digest it so that you can fully comprehend what was stated.

    • Simply the Truth
      February 12, 2014

I suppose you are not a hypocrite. Those who object to him coming to D/ca to perform are not responsible for what others do. Stick to the issue, hypocrite.

The only thing I have to say about this is that I have seen Tommy Lee performances on the net at Sting and those other venues and this dude cannot perform. I listen to the recorded music but the live version is a waste of money.

I see them sokouyant and priests working out their spells of destruction, mayhem and disenfranchisement, then they give credit to their God. They will make certain that no one beats them at their evil games. They are going to ensure that “they” run things here, and not a foreigner (intruding on their grounds). LOL and good riddance to ALL who keep the poor down with malicious intentions. We are awake and are fully aware that this God delusion does not work anymore.

You are entitled to both your opinion and position on the matter. However, my concern is if you are so interested in that kind of performance on your island then why don’t you perform in his absence and send the revenues made to him for his legal defenses in JA? That to me is a true and dead-hard fan of these kinds of artists.

      Vallerie,

God will be magnified in every situation. This guy who calls himself uncle demon will see how satan uses men and women, sifts them as wheat and then scatters them all over to place!

whatever you do, don’t be an instrument that the devil will use nor open your soul to his devices especially when it is so easy to do so via the music medium.

always remember that satan was an angel in charge of music, he knows how attractive it can be and knows how to employ it to deceive and lead astray sooo many.
