
Tony Rebel, Nelly Stharre and Queen Ifrica are down to perform at a 2010 Year of the Child concert, carded to take place at the Krazy Kokonuts on Saturday.
According to one of the organisers of the show, Emile Raffoul, all proceeds from the event will go towards Camp Rescue Londonderry.
Raffoul said the concert is one of the many planned events for 2010- the Year of the Child. Raffoul said that he, along with others such as Anna Raffoul, Marie Giraud and others, have formed a committee focused on organizing events in aid of child-centered organizations around the island.
He mentioned an upcoming jazz show as one of the many other functions being planned by the committee. The organizer said that an official launch of the committee and its events will soon be announced.
Tony Rebel, a popular Jamaican artist, is best known for his hit song ‘Jah By My Side’ and his more recent ‘Another Bill’ which has become a favourite of many locals.
Queen Ifrica, another Jamaican artist, is best known for her hit single ‘Daddy don’t touch me there’ and ‘Below the waist.’
Local reggae singer Nelly Stharre, previously a zouk artist, has been best known for her singles ‘Peace and Love’ and ‘Build My Nation’ which she released as part of her Soul Country Album in 2004.

The Fanatik Band, a local band, will also perform on that night.
According to organizers, the show is at a cost of $20 in advance, $30 at the door, and $50 VIP. Tickets can be purchased at Raffoul and Company Limited.
