The Marigot Development Corporation (MDC) confirms popular dancehall reggaefusion duo Voicemail from Jamaica as the second artist for May Fest 2011 International Artist Night.
Recognised for their trademark hits “You’ve got mail-VoiceMail”, and “Heeyee”, they’ve been making waves on the international dance hall scene, with anthems such as ‘Wacky Dip”, “Weddy Time: and “Ready to Party”. Their debut album ”Hey” received a double platinum plaque. Voicemail with their catchy, upbeat and fun dancing anthems will join Blak Ryno on stage, Sunday May 1, at 10:00 p.m. at the Marigot Fisheries Complex.
MayFest is now in it’s fifth year, and is an annual community festival organised by the Marigot Development Corporation in the village of Marigot. Other activities in the Mayfest calendar include Heroes Park Induction Ceremony, Local Bands Night, and the National Drumming Festival.
Meanwhile MDC has included a Breadfruit Festival as part of based Mayfest 2011 activities.
According to MDC President, Michael Pascal, breadfruit has been a staple on the local diet for centuries. Today breadfruit is being used to create many sumptuous beverages, meals, desserts and snacks so this event is a wonderful opportunity for persons to display their ingenious creations.
The Breadfruit or Pem Pe Festival is carded for Monday May 2, 2011 at the Marigot Fisheries Complex from 12 noon. The entire island is invited to participate.
