Thee are so many local musicians that play OUR music, why is thee always a lacking of local musicians? Anthony Gussie, I did not know he was from Wesley, what a great musician, also the radio stations, they know who they are, should play more of the local music. Go on the net and see how they are appreciated out of DA. We had a local artist reported died in a fire, how may times was her music played? look on the net, see how great she was. Go LOCAL.

Why they doe bring down another African artist like iyanya because they didn’t bring flavour

  6. August 8, 2015

Cadence, zouk, compa and reggae are the building blocs of the wcmf.all others genre of music are extentions,so as to create more diversity.reading the article about the genre of music to be played at the wcmf, cadence is not mentioned as a genre of music to be played at this year wcmf.i dont want to be critical or make any harsh comment, cause i believe that the omition is a typografical error.giving the band selection committee, the opportunity to explain to the Dominican people, why cadence is not a genre of music to be presented at this year Wcmf.

Just and idea. Maybe we could get a big artist to come and give them a free Dominican citizenship for their fee. That would not cost us anyhting. Mr. Skerrit wants to expand the passport program anyway he says. Imagine, famous artists walking around with a Dominican passport, free publicity again for us.

Hahhahaaah….Compare this to ANY other festival in the region and see how far we’ve fallen. We can write the post-event coverage right now: WCMF Organizers claim event was a loss…again!

Hello and good afternoon my people. Well the line up is nice but just made sure Rental Vehicles will be available because we need to tour sweet Dominica. Also what’s the date for Creole in the Park.

  11. August 7, 2015

The people of Dominica we must support the festival to the fullest, because it is our product, our thing is our thing.

  12. August 7, 2015

The band selection committee it seems are only interested only in promoting bouyon and calypso at the wcmf, and that is because is the bands from Roseau who mostly play those two genre of music.99% of the Dominicans musicians who play cadence comes from rural Dominica and 95% of the musicians who play reggae comes from rural Dominica.it leaves one to ask the question,is that the reason why there is so little presence of those two genre of music at the Wcmf on a yearly basis.next year for the 20 eth anniversary hope we can see exile one ,ophelia, midnight groovers and black affairs.when the government is assisting the music industry, the organizers of festivals must show their support by making correct decisions.i will give the greatest praise to the organizers for their hard work but i must say it as i see.

    August 7, 2015

no Nasio. ahahah we really hate to see our own make it. the wcmf organizers should be ashamed!!

  14. August 7, 2015

There is only one authentic cadence lypso artist in the line up,with this i disagree. While they say this year festival is to honor Gordon Henderson. More cadence lypso artists must be included,on the line up or we might see the death of cadence as a genre of music.i support the festival and the hard work put in by the organizers.2016 would have been est to honor exile one contribution. The cadence artist is Ophelia.

    August 7, 2015

Which musical group can you recruit with three months notice? After 19 years of a festival the organizers still have not been able to come up with a proper line-up. Collin Piper appears to be very incompetent but because he is loved by certain sectors he escapes with mediocrity.
It’s a shame to be discussing line-up of the festival in August, the promotional material of the festival should have been out seen January.
Can I get vacation from my job and book an airline ticket now for October? No. In any case the line-up does not look impressive. Why would the son of Sweet Micky be on the line up with the atrocities of his father in Haiti, supporting the policies of Papa Doc and Baby Doc. Is there any political consciousness in the decision?

Trust me the line up is not really a festival line up they could do better than that wi. Really not my vibes and the still not going lower the price of the tickets smh

    August 6, 2015

Let’s be realistic PPL!!!! Everyone want so much for EC$350. You are getting 3 nights of live entertainment for a bargain and all you are doing is complaining. Yes, we all want more internationally acclaimed artists to perform at the festival but a logical person would understand that the price of the tickets would go up substantially. If you are all ok with that then good for you… I for one am pleased with the lineup considering the price of the ticket.

  30. Line Up tho.....
    August 6, 2015

The line up isn’t that bad but i do have some concerns with it first of all i don’t think the survey was taken into much consideration if it was who knew Dominicans fancied french music that much or maybe the survey only mattered to the french patrons but the long wait for that line up DFC, and DDA you guys could have done better and pumping $1 million into creole fest when you look at the cost of everything is not much money at all……more could be done disappointed with the Band Selection Committee

Piper, so I can not make too much of his comment. I didn’t know that Nigeria is a creole country also,. well, I’m learning. Intriguing is the booking of T-Mickey, who is the son of the President of Haiti and I suspect they had to accommodate the P.M.’s wishes since he is supposed to be a good friend. I’m staying home with a cold Kubuli this time round. I will not be missed and not miss anything.

where all the local artiste like nasio, oriel and the revoluters who jus perform on the biggest reggae festival, oozy wck colton etc. isn,t our festival about exposing our local talents and musicians.pure disappointment i personally believe a bouyon bands should b on the line up

  45. Mamizoo
    August 6, 2015

I will continue to stress the point that we are where we are because we have adopted the habit of pretending thst things are not broken and ib the face of obvious problems we would rather pretend the problems dont exist. Well while ee continue to pretend and pacify lies the creole music festival is now down in the dump.
But whst intrigues me is the fact that 6 months ago friendly governments provided or government with so much money to bring artists that the creole festival cant afford to get on the line up. There was enough money to lieu Dominicans back to Dominica today there is no sign that a agressive effort is made to bring people on the island for the festival; similar to what was done early December.
After 16 years the festival cannot attract artists that could keep the festival interesting maybe it is time to overhaul.
