We need to understand for labor day in the states we see all bands from all around the world. Why not in Dominica? having foreigners in a local show means more views and more people will know Dominica’s culture… Stop being shellfish!

To those who are interested in why Dice is not added to the line up for the 2019 WCF is because Dice needs to uplift his standard in the art. Dice should engage in singing productive marketable songs. Songs the region can listen to enjoy and understand and know what he sings about not those crap that is given to him to sing against a MAN and soon as carnival is over the song finds itself in the grave yard.
As a 9 times calypso monarch more should be expected from him. He should be able to write his own songs and be an example to those coming. Dice is just a puppet to Pat.
Pat makes the money while he(Dice) pass a fool.

I am interested in why Dice is being left out. I am a fan of Dice (in spite of my identifying with the DLP) and because calypso is a very important sector of our entertainment culture. I enjoy playin 2 of his songs Send Me and Those Are The Days. I play them on my lab top frequently. Dice should be the header in all cultural activities.
Dice should stop slanting his songs against the government in a partisan manner and make them more all national and international entertainment. But he show no interest in becoming professional.
Can he do his usual and still contribute to cultural production ? I doubt it. He is not establishing his own legacy by singing those anti-Skerrit point of view as dictated to him by the writer of his songs. His song writer is just usuing him. Too bad because he qualify as one of the greatest of all times.

@ Kid On The Block. That’s a load of crap! Dice is a messenger, he is like Peter Tosh, a warrior with a Mike bringing social and political awareness to the people. Dice’s absence from the lineup is nothing but a political attack. And that’s expected in a political climate such as Dominica. Dominica is a political cesspool right now. Of course Dice isn’t on the lineup. If Dice was on the lineup, I would say Dice is losing his impact. And he is not the only artist who does not write his own material. Most of the big name superstars in the music industry never put pen on paper and actually wrote a song. All you just doh like Dice because Dice too real, but trust me. Dominica too small for a talent such as Dice. Dominica holding Dice back, a talent such as Dice’s should be on international stage not constructed in that little nowhere unknown political cesspool called Dominica.

Midnight Groovers is a must. I hope those in charge can rectify this mistake. We are having foreign artiste but ignoring our own. Its the same old attitude of choosing outsiders over our own.
A show depicting our culture should never have outsiders. We have sufficient resources we do not have to import.

Clearly you do not understand. We have local shows and feature local bands all the time. Notice the number of local bands in the lineup? We love our Groovers but their performance last year was so unprofessional, poor sound compared to all other acts, even Chubby announced he retiring. Now you know.

I tend to agree with you somehow but take into consideration and bear in mind it is WCF( WORLD CREOLE FESTIVAL) and not NCF( NATIONAL CREOLE FESTIVAL).
Further more this is a money making thing and you are not catering only for the Nationals.
Let’s hope for the best because some of the locals also have a financial attitude without taking into consideration the circumstances.

We would love to have them but Groovers blew it again last time, undisciplined, poor sound, unprofessional as always, some ppl started walking out. Soon as it was over Chubby said he just retiring, again. Lol

Chubby. A man who has dedicated over 70 years of his life promoting cadence music from Dominica, and he is not even invited at the WCMF. Yet they are bringing in all sorts of artist paying them thousands of $US to perform, and our local hero is once again not included. Have you ever seen a Dominican band performing at Reggae Sunplash in Jamaica, or at Expo in Trinidad? They promote their own.
