WCMF gets another sponsor

DFC Events Assistant Marva Williams accepts cheque on behalf of DFC

Archipelago Trading has launched the Dewars Whiskey brand that will be featured as the official whiskey of the 15th World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).

The move also includes a direct cash sponsorship of $30,000 to WCMF.

Proprietor of Archipelago Yvor Nassief said the move is intended to broaden the choice of consumers in the market and to present a world class whiskey to Dominica.

“In many other islands, Dewars is the leading scotch whiskey. In Dominica, it is not. That’s just because people are accustomed to a certain brand and they like the brand and we understand that. But we decided to make an effort to try to make the market place a little bit more interesting and to give you some more choice. So, we’ve agreed to come on board as a sponsor of WCMF. We’re happy to do so and we are hoping that, in the future, you’ll go to supermarkets and you won’t just see one brand, but at least two,” he said.

Events Coordinator of the Dominica Festivals Committee Natalie Clarke-Meade addressed the launching and pointed again to the importance of corporate partnerships to the success of the festival.

Clarke-Meade stated, “This year Dewars came on a little bit late but it was a pleasure for Mr Nassief to call the DFC office and partner with us in such a special way. I’d like to thank Dewars and Boom energy drink (also distributed by Archipelago) for the special, official honor as the beverages of choice for the 15th WCMF. And I would like to also thank all the representatives that are working with us. It is very important for us to have corporate sponsors like this, because without corporate sponsorship WCMF would not exist.”

The 15th edition of the WCMF will run from October 28 through 31.
