Work of Dominican artist on exhibition at St. Lucian gallery

The work of a Dominican artist will be on display in St. Lucia at a 0ne-person exhibition carded to begin at St. Lucia’s Inner Gallery next week.

A private viewing of Arnold Toulon’s ‘Barmecide Feast’ will be held on January 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm at the Inner Gallery’s Bois D Orange located in St. Lucia. The exhibition continues until February 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

“Things edible and delicious like in “SUGAR BABY and CARROT ATTACK” are   juxtaposed with the human face or form, gravity is none existent as  these organic edibles flirt, hover or surround the human element.  Our  environment and the things that nourish us seem to be at the ‘CORE’ of  this series for Toulon’s new show.  The fruits of the earth become the  star players.  An ambiguous light source highlights the drama of these  pieces, bathing the main ingredients of these works in a surreal glow.   One feels like literally taking a bite out of these canvases, or  cranking up the stove with a waiting pot,” a press release about the exhibition states.

“Toulon’s versatility with different media and exceptional use of  colour allows this artist the facility needed to render simple subject  matter with a freshness and energy that quickly engages ones attention  and palate.  In this exhibition the artist, a former surrealist has  revealed a little known aspect of his oevvre from the studio,” the press release also states.

Toulon hopes that the paintings will find their permanent place in the  hotels, business places and homes, where the artwork can truly be  appreciated in its “natural environment.”

For further information,  The Inner Gallery can be contacted at 1 758 457 8728 or via email at [email protected] . Pieces from the exhibition may be viewed on the Inner Gallery’s website www.theinnergallery.com from January 26th onwards.
