Dominica tackles climate change

Darroux

Dominica is in the process of formulating its strategic program for climate resilience.

Environment Minister Dr. Kenneth Darroux said efforts are ongoing to develop Dominica into a low carbon and climate resilient country.

He was addressing a national consultative workshop on the finding of the technical working groups of Dominica’s pilot program for climate resilience Wednesday.

“Dominica is one of the few vulnerable countries that are receiving support under the pilot program and climate resilience funded by the Climate Investment Fund. We are in the final stages of developing Dominica strategic program for climate resilience which will support our transformation to a climate resilience, low carbon development country,” he said.

Meantime, Director of the Environmental Coordinating Unit Lloyd Pascal is hoping that a National workshop will address issues affecting the country’s environment.

Pascal says the country is not equipped with the instruments to tackle the issues of climate change.

Disaster Risk Management Specialist and Team Leader for the World Bank Justin Lucky said at the end of the exercise, Dominica is expected to develop an investment plan.

It must start with a consultation and then a planning meeting. What is crucial is the formulation of action items for the relevant parties to work on AFTER the meeting. Then there should be a follow-up meeting to deliver results and to measure the success for the aforementioned action items.

… And the process goes on and on until the project is completed.

This type of structure allows for accountability and on-going measurement so that everyone knows what is his or her role and responsibility. It actually works like a charm if done right.

Anonymous – How did you feel after posting that comment?

If you search your conscience you will find that you are not justified in making such a comment.
By the way, what is your profession?

I will never understand how people allow politics to get into every single situation. I am certain that you are NOT a supporter of the Government, or may be other grievances with the gentleman.

If DNO posts an article, and this is your comment, then obviously you are jealous of that person.

Jealous of someone who was an island scholar (do your research), and secondly a well loved medical Doctor.

The bottom line is that going into politics does not change someone’s intelligence in spite of which party they choose to represent.

Shame on you for posting such rubbish!

but what does he going to specialize have to do with the topic at hand?

You just proved my point… your issue is a personal one or based on your political affiliation.

Consequently, your opinion and points are irrelevant.
