Dominica’s “unspoiled nature and authenticity” have been highlighted in a new travel documentary filmed in many parts of the island.
The film which highlights the island’s ecotourism thrust, was aired in Canada on Quebec’s Channel 5.
According to Jungle Bay Resort operator Sam Raphael, the one-hour documentary was an episode of the popular French Canadian Partir Autrement weekly travel series.
He says the initiative “brought the natural wonders of Dominica to life in the important Canadian market”.
“We are all extremely impressed with this film. It captured the true spirit of Dominica through images and voices of every day Dominican people,” Raphael told Dominica News Online.
“We are grateful to all the individuals, businesses and organizations that participated and contributed to this production including Discover Dominica who assisted with a financial contribution,” he said.
The film can be seen, he says, online at: http://video.tv5.ca/partir-autrement-4/dominique .
Why is it that whenever these discussions come up it’s either “nature” OR “development”. At what point did the two become mutually exclusive? Are you implying that every developed or even semi-developed country in the world is devoid of nature? Look at St. Lucia, Martinique, Trinidad, even Puerto Rico. All countries with marked signs of progress, and all full of natural beauty as well. When will Dominicans get out of this black and white thinking? And don’t even mention the “crime” in these countries as a defense, because last I checked Dominica is far from the safe haven it used to be.
No one is saying to put a megamall in the boiling lake or turn the Morne Trois Pitons National Park into an autobahn. There is plenty of opportunity for infrastructural development in Dominica without losing the natural beauty. It is high time people see that.
Unspoilt and to a certain degree, untouched.
Sweet Dominica the land of beauty. I always love hearing positive matters about Dominica. It shows there is a lot of good in DA. Also a lot of land which still needs to be cultivated.
Sam Phaphel is doing a good job in not only promoting Dominica but creating employment as well. The govenrmnet should continue to support this initiative.
Oh boy, what a Video. just sent me straight back a yard, trust me I miss this life alot.
This confirms the campaign promise of the UWP to develop a Clean and Green economy.
beauty , lush greenery and your masses cannot afford a well balanced meal is of no worth!
Dominica. the most beautiful place on earth.
Great! Started watching the video and it just blew my mind. That is the natural Dominica we all grew up to love and cherish. And it’s always refreshing to be reminded of the many little things we take for granted and, which are priceless. Whether you are in Dominica or elsewhere you should take time to view and learn about this beautiful country of ours.Congrats to those who made it possible.
nice to know we’re unspoilt , but that is a sign of no infrastructural and economic development
PUNK!
We will not compromise our natural beauty for artificial beauty, if you want infrastucture go New York and stiffle in the concrete jungle…
As for us we will maintain our tree jungles and invite you to do the ‘National Trail’ from Scotts head (South) to Capuchin (North) whilst on the nature isle!!!
all you all saw in this comment is infrastructural development!!! what about the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT??? the Caabal and Co are enriching themselves whereas the poor are becoming even poorer!
Wa u want us to be spoild like them develope countries where their people prefers Dominica to live
:D just kidding yah Mann live us in our lil DA safer than them develope cunt-ry :D
The Island deserve this…God given place
