Earthquake monitoring officials to arrive in Dominica

Scientists from the Seismic Research Center are expected to be on island later this month to monitor earthquake activities in the north.

Residents of northern communities have been reporting frequent tremors and earthquakes in that part of the island.

National Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Nathaniel Isaac said government
is taking serious, weekend earthquake activities in the north.

“We are now putting together a program that we can get on the ground in Portsmouth and the villages in the North and to have some town hall meetings. We are also hoping to meet with the schools in the area about the activity. Right now we can’t say exactly what it is but we are taking it serious. We will be on the ground in that regard,” he said.

Isaac said a geologist is expected to form part of the team to conduct meetings and make presentations.

“What the scientist are telling us is that while we have to continue to monitor the situation, they don’t think it’s nothing serious,” he said.

Isaac was speaking on the Q 95’s Hot Seat programme.

Do we think before we speak (or write)? Why don’t we seek information before reacting to rumours, and our overactive imaginations and feelings?

Bribery has as much to do with a volcano as cheating has to do with us going to the bathroom. Are we going to say that someone has a bad stomach and needs to go to the bathroom because they are a cheat?

I hope and pray that these ridiculous comments are not reflective of the mind set our out people. If so, GOD HELP US.

Dumb-me-in-a-can’s statements are the most ridiculous and I hope he or she is just trying to inject some humor into an otherwise serious matter.

According to him or her “God is not asleep and he has to protect the poor which he see is increasing 100 fold,” Yet to my knowledge the north of Dominica is populated by, er, poor people. So I guess God is protecting the poor people of the north through a series of earth tremors which could eventually become serious?

If that is the kind of God there is, I don’t want any part of him.

James you took the words right out of my mouth. Some things are not the result of any God but nature or man alone!

Tell me what do you expect when they are trying to dig in the belly of the Earth with this geothermal experimenting Pray God this is stopped and use alternatives for energy. It is said the USA is giving funding for windturbine energy. Interfere with the power in relation to a multiple volcanic area, and we are asking for trouble

It took time, cause in areas up north, almost everyday there are countless tremor and it is beginning to scare me. I think the volcano is active and they’re hiding the truth from us. We’ll find our way, stop trying to protect us by hiding the truth, instead tell us the truth so we can prepare our evacuation plans and what ever else we need. Educate the people!!!

We pump oil and natural gas out of the ground leaving empty space and a vacuum; this makes room for the earth bellow ground and the tectonic plates to move about in. We need to be mindful of our actions. Actions have consequences, cause and effect. Enough with the religion already just use your brain and think things through rationally. Stop blaming God when you can’t figure out what is going on.

The storm of bribery, injustice, cheating, stealing from the tax payers, has a price to pay. God is not asleep and he has to protect the poor which he see is increasing 100 fold. The tremors are his signs and warning to be clean with his people or else …………………..All the blood money material gains will be destroyed, no one will enjoy sinful gain materials…….they will be all swallowed up…

Boy Skerro will have to build over those villas again and that Mini hotel in Ville Case….

God is looking at YOU!! You will fool the people but NOT the Creator…..He is watching you, all those so call believers and society moral leaders…..GOd is sending his warning …….Clean up and confess…

AM HERE TO FIGHT PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS NOT FLESH AND BLOOD!!

God is just and almighty, he has to get a way to make us stop fighting among ourselves over petty politics. A natural disaster or fear of an impending natural disaster will surely bring on unity. We are a hypocrite nation…..pretty soon we will forget about calling Q95 and we will call voice of Life….ie until all tremors, landslide, and mountain slides stop.

    @Child of God
Yes, yes because a storm and an earthquake are the same thing right? The caribbean is situated on the edge of a crustal plate it’s only NATURAL that these things will happen. The best we can do is prepare ourselves. Come to think of it all this religious scare-mongering is why so many people laugh at or dislike religion.
